Started out by messaging provider through Angie's List. Jake was responsive and able to come out relatively on short notice to tune my piano. He did a fine job of tuning the piano. The only complaint I have is that he found some minor distortion on the sound (thanks for pointing it out) and told us what to do to remedy it. I think it would have been A+ service if he could have fixed the distortion for us. Otherwise, was pretty happy with the service.

Provider never reached out despite 4 calls. There was no message indicating the provider was on vacation or going through an emergency.
Response from Piano Care of New York
"Yikes! Sorry, I've just recovered from a broken collarbone that stopped me from being able to work. I've been swamped with phone calls and am just trying to catch up on my regular customers. That and a lot of emails. Sorry I haven't gotten to your message, being injured really put my business through a loop! I will hopefully be able to get to you quicker next time. Just one man. If you had emailed me, I would have gotten back. I don't have a call service, so phone calls take a lot more time."

My piano had not been tuned in three years and Jake did a fantastic job putting everything in tune again.  My high C was inoperable and he expertly fixed that key also.   Finally, some of the keys were sticking and he resolved that issue too.  Jake was very professional.  I will definitely have him tune my piano again in six months.

He did a good job, was honest about the condition of my old junker, and showed me what he was talking about.  Very instructive.

He responded to my email right away, and offered to come the next day.  We ended up making a date for the following week.  I gave him a punctuality rating of "B" only because he was about 20 minutes late arriving, but he did call to warn me.  It didn't matter to me anyway.  He spent the better part of two hours tuning the piano and repairing a broken note, for $140 total, which I was quite happy with.  His tuning was very accutate and well tempered.

Communication was easy via e-mail. Jake came on time and tuned the piano. I discovered a couple of keys were sticking after he left, and he arranged to come back out within a couple of days to fix them.

Jake arrived on time, was very professional, and did a great job repairing and tuning our little upright piano.  Glad to have him and will have him back again next time.

I had priced other piano tuning/repair places, which wanted twice as much money to do a service call plus tuning, but the pedal repair turned out to be a simple solution, which he did not charge much for. The tuning was also a little cheaper than the other place, so the whole bill turned out to be quite a big less than was quoted by the other place and the work was well done. I was very pleased with Piano Care, and glad to be using a local Astoria business.
