Called David Asitashvili on Tuesday morning, asking for an estimate. He was in NYC and came right over. He gave me the estimate, which I thought was fair, and said it would take 2 to 3 days and that he could start the next day (he had an upcoming job starting the next week which would have made him unavailable for 4 weeks). He began the next morning (after working with my super to have the required insurance in place) and removed the old backsplash. He had to do a lot of plastering to prepare the wall for the tile - and wanted to have the plaster dry overnight (which I appreciated since previous estimates said they could do the whole job in one day). He arrived promptly the next day with another man. David began the work of mortaring the wall and began the glass tile installation. His co-worker, Louis, finished the job. It required an incredible amount of work to cut the tiles correctly - Louis was a perfectionist and did an amazing job. Louis arrived early the next day to do the grouting, caulking, and painting - to make the job perfect. David came both during and after completion to ensure that all was done correctly. I couldn't have been more pleased.
