Overall, we are very happy with Marc and would use him again.  
We asked Marc to complete the job on a specific timeline while we were out of our home.  He consulted us on the scope of the project, narrowing what we were looking for into a task list that was doable on our time frame.  This was very helpful.
Marc also steered us in the right direction for material supplies, suggesting a tile center that worked well for us.  He was specific in the options that he wanted us to consider, not afraid to tell us when something wasn't possible within the scope of what we were looking for (but also demonstrating lots of flexibility in that scope).  
There were a few bumps along the way as there always are around communication.  When we would bring this up to Mark he would listen and always respond with a fair set of solutions, making us feel comfortable sharing concerns.  I bring this up not because the hiccups were frequent (they really weren't) or because they were a big deal (they really weren't).  But they did give Mark a chance to make us feel like he was working with our sometimes fickle interests as his guide.  I really appreciated that.
The final product was great.  I only give him a B on price because our job cost us a lot of money, but it was a big job.  He communicated the cost and we decided not to make this a budget project.
Finally, I was very impressed with the respect that Marc showed to the other members of his team.  His personable dealings with them (that I saw as I did occasional visits to check up on things) gave an impression that he cared about his co-workers.  That made me feel more comfortable being around their work and hope that they would take the extra care on the job.  The results speak for themselves: the house looks great.

We had called several contractors, all of whom came back with quotes for far more extensive work. Mark understood our needs, gave us a fair quote, and delivered. He went the extra mile in mixing stains to achieve the tint that best blended with the adjacent space.We have since used Mark again for a different type of job (painting) and will continue to do so if the need arises.

Marc and team were first hired to sand and refinish our 100+ year old oak parquet floors. He was clear about expectations, such as noting that the veneer trim in bedroom may be sanded off. He also explained that although the floors are in amazing condition, they are none the less 100+ years old, they will not be perfect. They came out fantastic. 
We were impressed enough with the quality of his work that we then hired him to do some minor renovation work at a different apartment we own in preparation for a kitchen installation where a nib wall was removed and another wall was built out to line up with an adjacent wall. His quote was not the lowest (by more than $1,500), but we felt strongly enough about the quality of his work based on his doing our floors that we decided that it was worth the extra to ensure that the results would be what we wanted. And they were. The quality of workmanship was outstanding. He listened and addressed our concerns. 
A month later, we then used his services to sand and refinish the 1960s oak floors in our other apartment followed by a complete interior prime and paint job in preparation for a future tenant. Again, the quality of work was outstanding. 
His crew were prompt, tidy, and respectful of our space. We would definitely work with him again, the professionalism was good, he communicated expectations well and provided suggestions on how to do some of the work which in the end were reasonable and helpful. Our only gripes would be a few snafu's with working with his office staff around billing, and there were a few times we felt he was a bit slow to respond to emails/phone calls. Otherwise, a very satisfied and happy customer.

We have some fairly low quality flooring in maple which we needed re-finishing in a darker stain.
Marc was fast to respond to a request and was in situ working on the job within a week or so while we were away. 
He was professional and highly communicative and he team were fast and friendly.
He walked us through the challenges of re-finishing a maple floor (hard to make the stain stake) and the risk in the low quality of the existing wood (will ever look perfect). That said, the team did a great job and it came up great. 
When there were a few patches to re-finish he was back quickly and fixed the issue with no cost and no fuss.

I'm very pleased with the result. During the first visit Marc explained to me that it would be very hard to match exactly the current floor unless he had the references of the hardwood floor or salvage some pieces from another place in the apartment (a closet).
I managed to get the references from the previous owner and Marc and his team were able to find and buy the wood even if this model had been discontinued. Once delivered, the installation took only a day, the team was very professional and protected very well the apartment.

Marc and his crew were quality professionals from start to finish. The estimate was thorough and follow-up questions and concerns were answered promptly. The work was performed superbly. But Floor Works stood out for an additional reason: During the course of estimating the work, we had some concerns about the manner in which the work would be done. Due to a mutual mis-communication, Marc stated that he was going to pass on the job. Believing that something had gotten lost in our flurry of emails, I called him to ask what happened; he explained what he had perceived, I clarified, and cooler heads prevailed. The work went forward and the floors look outstanding. Many companies can do competent work in this space; what set Floor Works apart was the truly human element.

I was kept informed of all aspects of the job including schedule.  They showed up on schedule everyday during the job.  The team of guys actually enjoyed what they were doing, they had a great rapport with each other, believe me,  I lived in the basement while the job was being done so having a team going out of their way to make things comfortable helped a lot.  At the end of the job my wife and I noted that my old floors had some flaws in the wood and there was a slight applicator mark on the new floor.  Marc took care of it immediately by replacing some of my faulty old floor and buffing and adding a coat to the new floor.  In a nutshell, I think these guys could possibly be the best out there.  Quality of work excellent, communication excellent, customer service excellent.

My husband and I just bought a condo in NYC. Due to unforeseen delays in the  closing date it was hard to settle on exact date for work to start.  I worked with Marc (the owner) and Paige (the office manager) for several weeks before the work could finally start. Just hours after the closing I met  Marc at the apartment and work started the following morning. The building have rules of work taking place only between 9AM and 5 PM and they managed to get the apartment finished in 2 days. Fantastic crew.
As we live in another state all communication was done via email. Marc and Paige answered promptly and the work could not have gone any better. And the floors are beautiful.
We are now in the planning process of having the apartment painted by them and also this time we communicate via email.

I'd first like to say Marc and his team were very professional, polite and accurate with their
work. They spent the first day prepping by moving furniture and sealing walls and openings with plastic. I had large sofas and a piano so this was not an easy job. I had my LR floors sanded, stained and polyurethaned over the next 5 days allowing drying time between work.
The teams were all very nice and arrived promptly. I would use Marc again as needed.

Marc was very responsive and worked with me throughout the process.  Price was higher than other estimates, but it was worth having a reliable group.

Because we chose pre-finished wood, the job was done, start-to-finish, in 4 days--the two days before xmas and the two days after. We hired Marc's company years ago to install new floors in the 2nd and 3rd floor apartments in the same property, and were very happy with the work back then, so it was great to see that they are still a good company to rely on. Marc is very professional and friendly, and detail-oriented--he and his team do great work.

I have to say I was very impressed with Floor Works.  I have done plenty of renovations over the past 10 years so I know how it can be to work with contractors.  Floor Works did everything on time, the work was perfect, and I didn't need to nag them to get anything done to my expectations.  All of my furniture was handled with care, and they finished the job on time (which is usually rare from past experience).  I would highly recommend them for dependability and quality.  My floors look beautiful and I am very happy with the whole experience. 

They worked with us to get all the paperwork needed by our co-op board, showed up when they said they would, did a great job, corrected a few small mistakes when we asked for it, cleaned up, worked fast, and made a great recommendation for work that they did not perform themselves. This work was spread out over two years and was done in two or three day segments. Very happy with the experience

The process was very smooth from the get-go. I called about a quote and Marc responded before the end of the day and explained the quote in great detail. I was working on a tight schedule before moving into my apartment and Marc was accommodating with the dates of work. He sampled 4 stains for me and met me again the next day so I could see how the stains set and dry. 
I was extremely happy with the result of the job.

Marc was responsive to my emails and questions I had about refinishing floors.  He was very helpful and gave a competive price.  the service was great and the floors look fantastic.  I would reccommend Marc to anyone who is looking to refinish their hardwood floors.
As a note, I just purchased an apartment in NYC and Marc refinished the floors and stained them a very nice dark color.  I am extremely happy with the way they turned out, they look brand new (and they were pretty beat up before Marc refinished them).

Marc was very responsive in a timely manner.  I especially liked that he sent pictures of before and after.  He asked for feedback and whether I needed anything else done at each step of the process.  Overall, I am very pleased with the outcome and would definitely use them again.  Additionally, the building manager told me that he was happy that there were no issues while the work was being performed in the apartment. 

My general contractor doing renovation work in other parts of the apartment commented that the refinished floor was very well done!! 

I can't say enough good things about Marc and his team.  During my final walk-through, I discovered that the wood floors in my new apartment were in terrible shape and needed to be refinished AND replaced before I moved in the next week.  After I contacted him, Marc got back to me in record time and was able to complete the work within the limited time frame he was allowed.  All phone calls were returned in a timely manner and the work was impeccable.  The refinished floor looks like new and the replacement floor was done quickly and neatly.  I would highly recommend Floor Works New York!
