AKI Cabinets

The wood split on the doors.  I called the cabinet manufacturer (Cubitac) and he said he would call AKI Cabinets. He called them, the cabinet manufacturer called me back and asked for pictures.  I heard back from Mike.  They're looking into the size of the doors that now need to be replaced. Before all of this, I had to do all the leg work, they wouldn't reply. Cubitac was more than willing to replace the cabinets.  It was AKI (Mike) who was putting me off and dragging his heels because of employee problems which are not my problems.  Buyer beware!  Use another cabinet supplier!  I will let everyone know the final outcome.

UPDATE:
They contacted me on 2/5/15 to let me know that the new doors were in. When they came on 2/7/15, they didn't bring the proper clips, and two of the replacement doors were also split. Since then, I have not heard anything back from AKI Cabinets.

Update:

They finally came to adjust all doors and replace new ones (2). Some of the doors could not be adjusted to close properly so this will have to do. If not for Ifram's efforts (who is not the owner) or cabinet installer, this never would have happened. They still will not give me a warranty claiming at the time of the sale it was not requested.

Bottom line- DON'T use the company ever. I made a costly mistake don't you do what I did.

Overall I had an excellent experience hiring Aki as a general contractor (specifically I dealt with Frankie, who was very responsive and had great ideas for the space). This contractor is unique in that they are in the construction, cabinet-making, and countertop businesses (most other contractors I talked to required me to hire others for cabinets and countertops). The price that they quoted for my project was the lowest by far, and they stuck to that quote exactly (no charge for extras). They handled coordination of the plumbing, electrical, cabinet-making, countertops, etc., and were able to finish the project remarkably fast. They started the project the day after I left the deposit and 90% of the project was finished within 3 weeks of hiring Aki (including kitchen cabinets and countertops, which is remarkable). If I have one complaint, the quality of the work and materials were not top notch, but that is understandable considering other contractors quoted prices 2-3 times what I was charged by Aki. Those savings were more than worth putting up with a few minor mistakes and issues. If you have an unlimited budget and demand the highest craftsmanship I would look elsewhere, if you are on a budget and want the most bang for your buck, I would hire Aki. Will definitely go back to them for any future projects.

All work was done within an acceptable schedule and I was kept aware of any changes or delays. All individuals I dealt with were professional, helpful, very neat and did their best to stay on schedule. Would highly recommend AKI Cabinets.
