On Friday, October 2, 2020, my husband and I posted on Angie's List that we were seeking a cleaning service to clean our home. Angie's List quickly responded with emails and hopes of sending good recommendations. We received an email from Laura Parker-Handy. We immediately called the number and were told that it was Home Advisor. We spent 15 minutes discussing their services with an agent and were surprised to receive a quote for less than half of what we had been paying to another company. We liked that the representative said they are an agent for local businesses. She said she would keep our information on file until we were ready to hire them. When we hung up, we realized that she had never asked our name or other information and therefore, could not keep our info. We immediately called back and asked to speak with her. This second agent said since they all work from their homes, he couldn't connect us to her, but would happily help us. We booked a cleaning service for the following Friday with a reoccurring service every other week. He promised to send an email with bonding and insurance information. He took our credit card information and said a local company would call that afternoon. Neither the phone call nor the email happened. On Monday I called the customer service number (which has a "happiness guarantee) and a recording said there were no agents available, but I could send an email which would be answered within two hours. Four days later it still has not been answered. that afternoon I called and spoke to an agent who did not give me satisfying answers and so I asked to speak to a supervisor. He said that call would happen within 24-48 hours (I still haven't received it!). I called a fourth agent on Wednesday and once again was told she couldn't connect me to a supervisor. At that point I cancelled the service and requested an email confirming the cancellation. I did receive that email as well as an email apologizing to me. They say "when it's too good to be true, it's probably not." I should have followed that advice. Their apology was too little and too late. DO NOT TRUST LAURA PARKER-HANDY OR HOME ADVISOR. ANGIE'S LIST SHOULD NOT PROMOTE OR PARTNER WITH THEM!
