RAY DONER - ARCHITECT

Plans were drawn up and rather than Ray submit to the Town he gave my wife the plans and told her to take them to the Town. Various documents were missing and it took several submissions and almost a year to finally get the permit to start the work. At one point Ray improperly submitted a document as he marked up the document but did not submit to the surveyor to be included in the plans. That cost two months alone. As the project neared completion sat with the contractor and Ray to cost out the expense incurred and not previously provided for submission to New York Rising to get reimbursement. After two months Ray did not have the document completed and repeated phone calls went unanswered. Also found a problem in that he had not adequately specified the heating system and the Town refused to approve the Certificate of Completion. I scheduled a meeting with the Town to review the issue and informed Ray three weeks in advance. He failed to show saying he was on vacation.

Let me start by saying Ray is a really nice guy. Work started in February of 2015.  At first things went really well. I was in Florida for the winter so I also hired a GC for Ray to work with.  The town was not easy to deal with and after about a month of back and forth Ray stopped returning calls. It is not like I was calling all that often to begin with. Maybe three or four times in a six month period, at the most. When I finally reached him he told me he returned a call to another person with my name.  I found out he was not returning calls from the GC either. I thought he would be more responsive when I got back home. But things actually got worse.  To the point where I had to threaten to take him to court. A fairly simple project turned into a nine month ordeal., Much of it could have been avoided if he did his job !

so far so good. ray is very professional and knowledgeable in all aspects of architectural design.
