Schaap Moving Systems

Did not return phone calls.

Terrible!!  This is the fourth time we have used Schaap for moving us and the other three times they were tremendous. We have recommended them to many family and friends who have used their services and been pleased. This time was another story. They arrived late 9 AM- rather than 8AM- even though they were coming from Albany which is very close. One worker John talked all the time in between moving items which wasted a lot of time. Another worker constantly stared into his cell phone and kept texting which cut down on his productivity- and we were paying them $138 per hour for three men. They also removed a leg off a sleep couch and after they left we realized they never screwed it back on and lost the screw so we cannot reattach the leg. To make matters worse the total at the end came to 9.5 hours rather than the 7 hours estimated by Ray who came to our house. Our last move with them took 6 hours with the same amount of stuff- if not even less. The reason for this besides the cell phone texting and idle chatter was that we were charged  for 2 hours of travel time- 1 1/2 hours to our house and a half hour back to their  warehouse- we also paid for their lunch hour and several breaks.  They counted their start time as 7:30 AM even though they did not arrive at our house  until 9 AM- again their headquarters is 15 minutes from our house!! When I called the dispatcher  Todd the next day and expressed my displeasure  he promised to look into it  and said it did not seem right but he never got back to me- I can no longer recommend this company and will not use their services ever again. Beware!

Great! This is the third time we have used Schaap to move us. They are a very professional company and they have never broken any of our belongings.  The crew of three  men worked very hard and were very strong. The price came in very close to the original estimate given to us by the moving estimator from Schaap who came to our house prior to the move. I would highly recommend this company to anyone moving in the Capital  District. 

They were prompt and delivered when they said they were going to both times.

I hired another United Van Lines agent in Texas, so I can't comment on coordination with Schaap. However, I was incredibly impressed with the movers. I crew of two men came and met the driver. They were late, but it seems like there may have been some miscommunication with the driver and since they were unloading, I wasn't very concerned. The men took great care to protect the floors and walls of the house (a big concern for me) and were very careful in handling boxes and furniture. They were friendly and helpful and made the whole experience much more relaxing. I wish I had hired them to coordinate the whole move, rather than hiring someone in Texas.

I would never recommend anyone to interact with this company as a potential customer.

OVERALL THEY WERE GREAT. THE ONLY ISSUE WE HAD WAS ONE OF THE THREE GUYS ON THE MOVING CREW WAS LESS THAN PROFESSIONAL. THEY GOT SOMEONE TO REPLACE HIM AND BY THE END OF THE DAY ALL WAS WELL.
