Terrible, and partially my fault. Toilet clogged. Repeated use of plunger did not work. This was a Monday morning. The Friday before I received a mailer with a refrigerator magnet and a very short ad for clogged drain. I was most annoyed at the problem, and when I arrived at work I called the phone number. There was no address or location on the magnet nor the add.. should have been a warning, but I figured it could just be a not to sophisticated, self employed person... MY MISTAKE. Also, I thought it could be less expensive than a plumber. Anyhow, I called around 9:00 AM... person sounded nice. I told him where my house was. He said he could come in a few hours, and we agreed he'd call me at work. At noon, having not heard from him, I called him again. He was busy, I joked that his advertisement generated more work than he could handle, he said a few hours and he'd call. I went home at 2, called him because he only had my work number, he said he was busy but would be by. He arrived at 4, apologizing and stating he is never this late, that he values being punctual. Again, he seemed like a nice guy. He came into bathroom, asked questions about how the other drains are working, and agreed it seemed like plugged toilet. (I had small snake on floor, and he told me that was the wrong tool.) He went to truck, brought in a toilet snake, snaked the toilet. It worked. He was rushing, I knew he was busy, I was overjoyed the toilet was working and I paid the $90 he requested. NOTE: I never asked how much it would cost when I called him,... again, MY MISTAKE. But, that cost for a home visit is not unreasonable, although I was hoping he would have been less expensive. Now begins the fun. I took a sponge to clean the toilet, his snake left some sticky substance in the bowl, and I noticed the back of the bowl was damaged. As he told me he had another call in the neighborhood, I immediately called him. He said he'd be right back. A few minutes later he did return. I showed him the damage and he insisted he did not cause it. Although I watched him work (when he was snaking), I did not see the damage cause. However, at one point after snaking he noticed a tiny piece of white, he handed it to me. I pointed that out, and he insisted he had not caused the damage. The little shard of white was a small part of the damage to the back of the bowl. As I did not see him cause the damage, I thanked him for returning and he left. Last night the top of the bowl began to leak. A hairline fracture, which I can only assume he caused when snaking. Bottom line: I will be using a highly reported Angie's List plumber and buy and have installed a new toilet.
