Murphy Overhead Doors

Car was trapped in garage. I called the Murphy number and a real person answered my call. Made appointment for next morning. Josh arrived on time. Replaced broken spring with brand new spring. 33" 250 1-3/4 RHW. Job was done within 20 mins. Price: $65 for one spring (remember was $35 , 8 years ago) $144.75 for labor, lube, adjust (20 mins) Paid cash = $227 tax included

The installer arrived on time and completed the installation within a few hours. Everything works well and they took away the old door and parts at no additional charge.

Badly. Their technician came and did the job, and didn't bother to tell me until after he was that the spring was in danger of breaking (would it have hurt to tell me before the job: "I just want to warn you -- this is an old spring, and if I touch it, it might break.") Indeed, it broke a few days later. They agreed to give me a credit of $50 for the $100 job they did toward the cost of a new spring. A reasonable accommodation, I thought -- it was their work that caused the spring to break, but in fairness it was an old spring. However, the price they gave me for a new spring was more than $500 -- I wound up having it done for half that through another company. Their technician's surly attitude throughout his work didn't win any points with me, either. There are local companies out there that are both cheaper and nicer.

Went very well. The installer came early and finished early. Everything was great.

It went well and also I had to call them back to redo the sensors. They came back quickly and they didn't charge me because it was related to the first service.

Great! The ordering process was quick and easy. We chose a custom color, so there was a few week lead time. The installer showed up on time as scheduled and the result seems excellent.

Telephone help was friendly and knowledgeable. Company representative came to house exactly on time to discuss services, options and prices. Follow-up questions by phone were answered promptly and professionally. Installer arrived on time, answered all questions and was very thorough, knowledgeable and courteous. Garage was completely cleaned when job was done. Very happy with this service and will definitely contact them when I need a new door.

The installers were very good. Bob was here at 9AM and did most of work . Mason came later to help finish job by 5:00 PM .Very neat and courteous.I would
recommend them to my neighbors!!!

We did NOT select this company for our project, but did interview them and liked their good service. It came down to a lower price (for a bit better quality) from another company. | |Hope this brief good word is helpful, and appropriate on Angies list... db

They came out and replaced the battery. The had some stripping that needed to be replaced. The worker took a piece with him and said he'd call back the next day to replace the stripping after he found the right brand. I called off work to stay at home and wait, but he never called. I called the Murphy and the receptionist was very rude and told me they were busy with emergencies. She told me they they could not fix my door and hung up.

The garage door leaks through the slats and windows. If you open from
the inside after rain or wet snow, the water showers down on you and
everything underneath gets all wet. The owner/company did nothing to remedy
the problem and actually gave very stupid answers during several
attempts to discuss hoping we would just give up and go away. We sealed
the windows ourselves but water still comes through the slats. Small
claims case didn't work because we should have brought an expert witness
(live and learn). We will have to buy a new door from another company
when we save enough money for it.
Don't judge Murphy Overhead
Doors by their reputation - original Mr. Murphy died several years ago
and the new owner is some relative who doesn't care about customer
service.

The original door opener lasted 12 years; never need repair until it had to be replaced. The Murphy door opener lasts less than 4 years and apparently they can't be bothered with repairs. Overall, I would say this has been a lousy experience making me feel like a chump for trusting a name that apparently no longer has value.

I had been having trouble with my garage door since I moved into my house. It often did not open on the first try and made a really loud banging sound when it did. It was obviously unbalanced and needed extensive work. I was sure that the rails needed to be replaced and the door re-hung. I had even had another local garage door company in to see it but they weren't able to fix it. The guy from Murphy came the day after I called for an appointment and came exactly when he promised. He was there for over an hour and even though the problem had him stumped for a while, he kept at it until both he and I were satisfied. In the end, there were a LOT of minor tweaks to be done and a few parts replaced but he did what needed to be done and I was charged under $100. These are definitely the people I'll call again if I have future garage door issues.

Terrible!

I called to schedule an appointment. The earliest appointment was for two days later, so I asked if there was an opening earlier if they would call me. They called the day before the scheduled appointment and then came and finished the job within 1 hr. I was very happy with the service except that the door occasionally opens again after closing. Since it only happens occasionally, I haven't taken the time to have them come out to look at it again.

The gentleman from Murphy Overhead Doors arrived when he said he would and had the parts he needed on hand in his truck to do the needed repair work. He worked efficiently and had the job done more quickly than I expected. His prices were fair and the door work fine again. I would recommend him.

I know that they are well-known in my area. I researched them on Angie's List and they had good ratings. I thought that they did a really good job for me. The final price for the job actually came in lower than the estimate, which made me happy.
