"It appears the stains that you are concerned with might have been caused by something other than water such as oil spills or certain chemicals. It is a natural property of granite to absorb liquids due to its porous structure, especially with a leathered finish. Although sealing the countertops with a granite sealer that was applied during the installation process (a standard industry practice) helps to prevent instant absorption of the spilled liquids, it does not completely eliminate this issue, especially if chemicals are used to clean the granite as they strip the protective coating with each cleaning. It is for this reason our installation completion form clearly states that natural stone countertops require proper maintenance such as use of cutting boards/trivets, cleaning with non-abrasive cleaning products, re-sealing and preventing the spills of harsh chemicals & oil. As indicated on our contract and installation completion form, KSD cannot be held responsible for the natural qualities of granite such as liquid absorption due to improper care and maintenance. In order to upkeep your leathered granite countertops, we would recommend buying one of the granite cleaning sprays available at home improvement stores or online. We also referred you to a sealing company that can re-seal your countertops, where they warranty their seal based on the material. Meaning if you have any problems within that time, they will come out to service your countertop seal. It is very important to prevent any spills from remaining on the countertop for an extended period of time as it might cause some moisture to be absorbed into the stone. Lastly, we express our apologies for not meeting your expectations and thank you for sharing your experience."

"Thank you for taking some months to reflect on your KSD experience, we offer our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience this situation has caused you. After templating your kitchen, we calculated the square footage of your project & found it to be larger than initially estimated, based on the layout that was provided. Although we try to be as accurate as possible in our estimates, our contract clearly defines such instances, stating that the final square footage and, consequently the final cost of the project are re-calculated after the templating has been performed. In order to remedy the situation, we offered you a project discount of $420. Unfortunately, in your response to our email on Friday 6.14.19 you have debated the validity of the price increase and expressed reluctance to pay the required amount. Unfortunately, due to the fact that we did not receive your fabrication approval in a timely manner, as well as requested KSD to provide additional fabrication details which had been previously discussed and agreed upon, we were not able to start fabrication of your kitchen in time to meet the contractual installation deadline. The KSD team felt we would not be able to fabricate and install the kitchen as planned to your expectations, causing you further inconvenience. At that time, there was no assurance KSD would receive the full payment due for this project. In order to prevent any financial loss and delays, the KSD team had decided to relieve you from the obligations towards our company, which would've allow you to quickly find another fabricator who could give you a better price. As specified in paragraph #11 of our contract, we have refunded your deposit minus the templating fee to complete the process, and provided to you your template. We again extend our most genuine and sincere apologies for your experience, and thank you for the time spent working with you on your project, as it has helped us become more efficient, and better prepared for projects of this nature.
