Roof installation went as planned with only minor delays from original promised start date. Chimney installation proceeded thereafter with flashing as the last step. No problems noted for two years until a week or two before Hurricane Irene when ceiling fixture in entry hallway began to leak water. I asked Mr. Lanza to come over and look at it which he did a day or two later. He told me to have leaves and pine needles removed from gutters and valleys and if it leaked after that he would look at it again ideally while it was raining
During Irene, the big storm, just two weeks later, the ceiling began to leak much worse and now it had spread to the master bedroom and I needed three big pails to catch the water. Ceiling was heavily stained but fortunately did not collapse. When I called Mr. Lanza on 8/28 , his main business number was disconnected and his cell phone voice mail box was full and not accepting any calls. I persisted over several days and finally reached him on his cell number about two days after Irene on 8/30 and requested he come over to look at my roof. At this point he informed me he was out of business completely and would not even come over to look or do anything to remediate my problem even though he was in business just two weeks earlier when I first contacted him.
Nothing changed his mind and when I said I did not want to have to sue him, he told me he was a limited liability company (LLC) and since he had no funds left in the name of the LLC- go ahead and sue you won't get anything.
I was informed by several other roofer and chimney repair folks that the likely cause of my problem was incorrectly installed flashing around the chimney and possible leakage from the interior of the chimney both of which I got fixed by another contractor.

Mr. Lanza was on the job-site for the entire time, along with a crew of approximately 10 men who arrived at dawn and worked until sunset. The removal of the old roofing was completed the first day along with the resurfacing of the first side of the roof; the job was completed by noon the following day. Rotted roof decking was replaced. Clean-up was very thorough considering the size of the roof, although considerable debris from new nailing was evident in the attic area - fairly consistent with work of this type. Considering other quotes we received for the job, we felt we got a very decent deal and would use his services again.

I liked the fact that the contractor and his crew showed up as promised. After staging their materials and tools, they went right to work. They worked rather quickly. After they were done, their clean up was awesome. What an overall excellent job.
