To say I was disappointed it a vast understatement.  Although I do blame myself for not requesting a proof, I felt that the sample of last year's book, a laser black & white proof and the computer files would be adequate for quality matching.  And I did indicate if they saw any problem, they should contact me before proceeding.  I was so wrong!  The copies were completely dark with loss of detail on many of the photos.  When I expressed my displeasure I was told that they could not lighten the print, that I would have to modify the file, and they would reprint at a 20% discount.  To add insult to injury, when I got home I realized they charged me $20 more than the quoted price (which they did credit after I brought it to their attention).  Needless to say, I decided to reprint the job at my own personal expense...but not at Camelot.  I took the same file to another printer who gave me a superb proof and an excellent print job, at less cost.  The print job from Camelot is in the trash and I will never go back to them.
I was in the printing business for 16 years before relocating to the Capital District.  Perhaps I was "old school," but I would not have proceeded with printing this job considering how dark the printed piece was as compared to the laser proof and digital file.  And, if I did, and the customer was so dissatisfied, I would have reprinted at my expense.  I realize, in the scheme of things, it was a "small job,"  but I believe every customer should be treated with the same respect and professionalism whether they ordered $10 worth of black & white copies, or thousands of dollars worth of offset printing.  Camelot Print & Copy Center can run their business as they see fit, and I can choose to take my business elsewhere.
