02/01/2017 - I entered a request to American Home Shield online to have our water heater checked because we were getting rusty sediment from all our faucets. We had replaced the anode in November of last year. 02/03 - I called Advanced Home Services because we hadn't heard from them, they're supposed to contact you within 24 hours after a request. They said they left message, that they couldn't come until Monday 02/06 between 1 & 5. 02/06 - The technician (Joe) called about 1640 to say it would be more like 1830. He arrived at 1840. One of the first things he said was "home warranty companies don't ever replace hot water heaters unless it's leaking or not heating." Ed showed him the rust & sediment in bucket that he'd drained from the water heater. Joe took photos and said he'd send them to American Home Shield, then flushed the tank. 02/07 - called Advanced Home Services again because we still had rusty sediment coming from faucets. Said they could come Thursday 02/09. 02/09 - Joe came and replaced the anode, did a quick flush of tank. The anode was all corroded and rusty. He said usually the anode lasts for about 18 months, not just three months, and took a photo of it. He said to give it a couple days and call back if we're still getting sediment from faucets. We flushed the water lines frequently from the 9th to the 13th. 02/11 - I called Advanced Home Services and left message to let them know we are still getting sediment from faucets. No acknowledgement or call back. 02/13 - called Advanced Home Services again to advise we are still getting sediment from faucets, left message. No call back. Ed called again in afternoon, said they would be there 02/14 between 1 & 4. 02/14 - Joe showed up at 1530, and proceeded to tell Ed that he was lying about having flushed the lines and argued with him. Ed showed him the sediment in the tub was still there. Joe said he'd go outside to his truck and call American Home Shield to request heater replaced. He left, never heard from him or the company after that. 02/15 - I called American Home Shield to find the status of the claim and was told Joe reported to them there was nothing mechanically wrong with the water heater. 02/15 - We are still getting sediment from our faucets. I called American Home Shield to request a second opinion from another plumbing company. We have also requested the photos Joe took (through American Home Shield), but they haven't sent them, and I don't really expect them to. Advanced Home Services is by far the worst plumbing company we have ever dealt with. I looked them up on Angie's List, and out of 8 reviews, 5 are a grade F. The complaints in Angie's List weren't even addressed by Advanced Home Services. This company obviously doesn't care if it's customers are satisfied or not.

Description of Work: Contractor was sent out by American Home Shield to service a clogged up garbage disposal. Unclogged drains and disposal and told me it was on its last legs, but did not replace it. 5 days later it stopped again and I put my hand inside to see if I could manually remove the avocado PEEL and the impeller broke off in my hand. 3 days later same repair man comes back and says he can only replace it with the same inferior product. I want to upgrade so have to call American Home Shield back and tell them I want a "Cash Out". In the meantime, serviceperson says I can use the other drain in the sink with no problem. I check the cabinet three days later and find a flood! Someone has not tightened up the connection to the sink!!!. Needless to say, these folks will not hear from me again.

The provider was sent by American Home Shield to fix our A/C. The tech arrived, went onto the roof, came down a few minutes later and explained that it was a simple tripped wire and that the unit looked great otherwise. He went back onto the roof and was done a few minutes later. Three days later the A/C was broken again. The same tech was sent out and went back up only to come down with bad news this time...the refrigerant line had a leak and was completely empty. Unfortunately refrigerant is not covered by AHS and we needed to pay $715.00 ($65 per pound) plus labor to fix and recharge the system. Coincidence?...I think not. I've now presented this scenario to two other techs that work for other firms and both have confirmed my suspicions that a coincidence like this DOES NOT happen. I contacted the company directly and spoke to a manager only to be told that there was no correlation between his tech being there and the new LUCRATIVE problem. I nearly flipped. Of course these "professionals" would never be allowed to come back to my home. I was forced to hire another company, which did a great job and charged much less ($30 per pound) but shall remain nameless as this is not a competitor trying to hurt their competition. They did confirm for me that the line "looked like it had been tampered with." This is a criticism of American Home Shield and Advanced Home Services. Think twice before using either.
Description of Work: This provider came to fix the A/C.

My home warranty company sent him out to inspect my toilet because it was making a noise. He told me there wasn't anything really wrong with it that my insurance would cover, just making a noise. He charged me a $75 trip charge plus another $95 to have had him replace the pump I had already purchased at Home Depot. He was very nice but I was kinda disappointed to pay extra to have the actual repair done.

Everything is working just fine. Diverters need replacing every 4-5 years and mine was due. The faucet was not installed correctly by the original plumber and just now failed to shut off the water. The faucet handle was too large and the smaller new one seems like it will work better. AHS was here on time and completed the job in less than 20 minutes because everything was on the truck which was a first for me. The $125 is my contract deductible with American Home Insurance.
Description of Work: Replaced diverter and faucet in bathtub.

Description of Work: Advanced Home Services was sent by Home Warranty Company for a hot water heater replacement. I was not willing to wait the 2 to 3 days for a replacement. The plumber was slow to respond with options when I left a message. In fact,he never did return my call. I got tired of waiting and contacted another plumber.

I was assigned this contractor through American home shield. The contractor called to set up an appointment for the repair the next day. He didn't ask me what the repair was, so before he hung up, I asked him if he wanted to know that was wrong. I told him that the cold water valve that connects to my clothes washer needed to be replaced, and asked if the repairman would have the part in his vehicle. He said that part would be in his truck. He told me the repairman would be there between 10-1. Before 10 am, Sam arrived at my home and asked me twice if I was the home owner. I said yes , and before he looked at my water hook up, told me that somethings aren't covered and he'd need to call and check. After a quick phone call he confirmed with me what he already knew. The repair was not covered. The agent from American Home shield said he'd complete the repair for $150 plus the $75 service call. The accurate name for the part that needed to be replaced was a hose bib, but I'm positive that the person I spoke to on the phone knew what I was talking about. Sam said that many times they "don't know what's covered with the home warranty, and if they do they will sometimes tell the customer before they come out" I'm think they knew before arriving that the repair wasn't covered which makes them dishonest. Secondly they planned to overcharge me for the repair. Many times as frustrating is it is with the home warranty, if something is not covered the contractor with include the service fee as part of the repair costs. Charging over $200 to change out a $5-12 hose bib is price gouging. I paid the $75, and asked Sam to leave. I will not do business with this company either through my home warranty or personally.
Description of Work: Assess the repair and determine whether it was included in the home warranty.

I called several times to set up an appointment. Andre at their office told me he did not have a work order from AHS. I called AHS and told the Andre could not set up an appointment until he had a work order email or Fax. AHS said they already sent one but told me to stay on the line while they called Andre. After about 5 minutes the AHS rep told me they had talked with Andre and sent him another work order and he would be calling me to set up an appointment. After 30 minutes with no call from Andre I called him. Andre told me he had talked with AHS but still did not have a work order. I told him the AHS rep told me she stayed on the line with him until he confirmed receipt of the work order. Andre then raised his voice to me and said she was lying to me and he did not like using AHS because they don't make money with AHS calls. Andre was rude and unprofessional. I called AHS and advised them of my call to Andre and they gave the service call to another provider who was very professional and did an excellent job. I would NEVER trust Advanced Home Services LLC to do work for me.
Description of Work: They were contracted by AHS to repair my garbage disposal. They did not provide the service.
