I'm attempting to convey what a customer can expect when ordering a flooring project from Home Depot. I worked with a local national chain flooring company (Carpet One) a year or so prior and didn't have near the issues as I did with Home Depot. When I ask for an installed price on a flooring project, that's what I want and expect. I also expect it to be installed in a timely manner. It didn't exactly happen that way with Home Depot. To be fair, they were cheaper per square foot than Carpet One but that is as far as it goes.
> I initially ordered the flooring on or about June 10, 2015. They sent an estimator our the next day.
> Once I received the invoice I noticed several unwanted items and charges on it. (This is a glue down hardwood and tile floor.) Instead of removing and replacing the base board they wanted to nail unfinished quarter round to cover any gaps and instead of using a caulk to join the tile and hardwood area they wanted to use T-bar. To me proper way is to remove and replace the base board and caulk the floor where tile joins hardwood.
> The store associate corrected the issues then started with the additional costs of the project. Did I want the material delivered to my home? An extra charge. Did I want the wood flooring carried into the house? Another extra charge. (They would only drop the tile, mortar and wood adhesive on a pallet in the fiddle of the garage floor.) Did I want the base board removed? Another extra charge. Did I want furniture moved? Another extra charge.
> Several days later they delivered the product. However, one tube of caulking broke while being shipped necessitating a special order. No big deal except the installers, Romanoff Renovations, would not give an installation date until all the product was on site. Once it was, they were two weeks out for the hardwood installation and three weeks out for the tile installation. In the mean time I have a pallet of material in the middle of the garage and hardwood stacked in my living room.
> I was satisfied with the installation however, the estimator grossly over estimated the project which necessitated returning cases of product and a full bag of thin set and a full 3 gallon can of floor adhesive to the store.
> The project was finished on July 20, 2015, nearly month and half after I initially ordered the product. In my estimation, way too long and inconvenient.
Bottom line, if you do business with them, check you invoice carefully. Personally, I will go elsewhere next time.
