"Thank you, [Member Name Removed]. From the grades that you left us we clearly didn't impress you, but you say you would hire us again. We care very much about the quality of service we provide, and the over all experience. I'm the owner. My name is Mark, and I can be reached at (775) 358-5486."
"Thank you, [Member Name Removed], for the nice review, and for allowing us to provide service to you. We appreciate the extra time it took you to go out of the way to leave a review. Mark"
I had used another single-proprietor shop to install new brake pads on my car. The owner/operator told me to expect a little grinding because they were metal brake pads and needed to smooth out a little. Seemed strange to me but, hey, he's the expert, right? Anyway, the "little grinding" was a horrendous noise that never lessened so I returned to this mechanic, and was told he didn't have time to look at my car. A friend recommended Sunshine and I made an appointment for later that week.
From the start, Sunshine's service was exceptional. They took me back in the garage and walked around, explaining the problems identified during their inspection: one brake pad had been installed with the wrong side facing the rotor, hence the terrible noise when applying the brakes, and the rotors were all dangerously thin and two were badly grooved. The Sunshine crew expressed their disgust with the mechanic who performed what they referred to as a "pad slap" and told me that my car was very unsafe to drive in its current state.
Sunshine changed out the rotors and pads within a couple hours and I have had no problems since. Staff members have contacted me several times since the work was done to make sure everything was running okay. I'm very happy with their work and customer service!
"Hi [Member name], Thank you for the great review. I actually recall your vehicle. That was very unusual that a shop would install a brake pad backwards, with the metal side facing the rotor, but it happened. We were glad to have helped out, and hope you come again. Thanks. Mark (owner)"
"Thank you, [member name removed], for taking the time to leave a review of our services. We look forward to serving you again in the future."
"Hi ( members name removed) Your Angie's List review was very much appreciated. As the owner, it's my goal to provide the highest level of service to customers so that they'll want to come back and continue working with us. I hope we continue to win your favor. Mark (owner)"
"[Member name removed], The work performed should have been as advertised with the $29.95 coupon that you had already paid for. But, yes, there would have been a small charge for the additional quart of oil, as the special was for "up to five-quarts", which was the deal we were offering at that time. Regarding some of the things on the Repair Order, such as where you say that you had actually performed the manufacturer's recommended service for 120K miles on your vehicle, and we did not know that, we would have to have you tell us if you had done some of those things. Such as, if you had replaced transmission and transfer case fluid, then that listed recommendation on our repair order would have been something that we would have then told you not to do, but, only if we knew that. That coolant tested bad, is something that, if it tested bad even if you say it was serviced, we're still going to tell you that it tested bad. If our test showed that it would not protect from freezing, then it failed, and we would explain that to you. I would be thrilled if you could come back in so that we could retest at no cost to you of course, as I'd like to verify the test. The technician who performed the work has a lot of integrity, so I am confident that he performed the test professionally. I have spoken to the service advisor who spoke with you and have explained with him, which apparently he was unaware, which is my fault, that the money that you paid for your oil change through Angie's list with the online coupon that you purchased, would have been an out-the-door price. I have a feeling that I hadn't explained that to him. But, when we do oil changes, not only do we use an expensive (to us) very high grade of motor oil, we do perform a truly complete service. So, I can tell you that I know you got thorough inspection. Such as, we tested your battery which tested bad, meaning it's near its end of life, probably something you haven't noticed, but before long it will die. We can perform that test again so as to show the test results to you. Another example of our service is that few shops remove tires for a basic oil change, like we do, so as to actually measure brakes with a gauge, which we did. If you check your repair order we noted that you had a lot of life left in your brakes, with 10mm of brake pad. That's about a twenty minute job just to tell you that your brakes are fine. Your other shops would not have done that without charging, typically. In the Repair Order I see that your shocks were leaking, and that too is something we can easily raise the vehicle up on a rack and point out to you. We perform a fairly thorough 27 point inspection and identify what we see. It sounds like you wanted us to tell you that everything was perfect, which if we can't do that, we can't do that. I am sincerely sorry that we did not communicate well, and that we got the pricing wrong with the Angie's List coupon. I will see that the difference between what you paid and what you should have been gets refunded. I wish I caught this review earlier. I would be happy to perform and entire oil change service for you at no cost, if you ever wish to come back in and allow us to make up for our mistakes, and show you the shop that we really are. "Hi [member name removed], Thank you very much for the positive review of Sunshine Service. It means a lot to us that a customer would take the time to leave a review. Please come again when you need some car service. Mark"
We checked out reviews on Angie's list and decided to call Sunshine Service. They advised us to have it towed because what we were describing could cause more damage, Once they had the motor home they started looking for the problem . They keep us informed every set of the way, always explaining what they were doing and why.
We have not had the motor home on a trip since the repaired, but it ran great from the shop to our house, about 10 miles.
