"In August 2014 we installed 53' of gutter for $762. After her discount. When Miguel did the installation he informed the homeowners that they would need to install heat tape and snow blocks to prevent snow damage that is not covered in the warranty. We even referred a company that does heat tape. The homeowner said it was to expensive. We went out one time after installation for a call that was covered under the warranty at no charge. When the homeowner called in March of 2017 she said she needed a repair and I explained that we weren't going over to Tahoe until at least May due to the amount of snow we had this year. When she sent pictures it was clear that the repair was snow damage and that is not covered under the warranty so she wanted a price to replace that section of gutter and it was more then she was willing to pay. since 2014 prices have gone up and to go to Tahoe for 13' of gutter he have to include in our price a trip charge because that would take most all of the day to drive there and back remove the existing gutter and install new. Each time the homeowner called I spent more than 30 minutes on the phone with her trying to give her advice on heat tape and snow blocks. If these items were installed after the gutters like recommended she would not have any repairs to worry about. This customer has voided her warranty by tampering with the original gutter system. She had applied Henry roof sealer to attempt to repair the snow damage and put salt in pantyhose on the other sections of gutters which may also compromise and have a chemical reaction to the aluminum. I'm sorry this customer is unhappy we take pride in the work we do and customer service is very important to us but she must understand that there is more that goes into the pricing than 12' of gutter."

"I am sorry to hear this customer is unhappy. Before any work is ever performed the customers are given a written estimate. They are not pressured or obligated to anything. No work is ever done without the customer approving the work to be done for the quoted price and signing our contract. We are contractors and we don't work on an hourly labor charge. If the job takes 30 minutes or 8 hours that quoted price remains the same. We offer a lifetime warranty on new gutter installation and six months on repairs. If this customer had problems a few days later like she says she should have called to have us come back out at no extra charge to see what was going on. If it was something we repaired that would have had a 6 month warranty. I have never received any calls from this customer other than this complaint about a year after the work was done."
"Miguel went out and gave this customer an estimate for a repair. The estimated price was $180. if he was able to repair it. If he was not able to repair it the price would have gone up because he then would have had to replace the gutter. This repair was more than just unscrewing the gutter and reattaching it. The gutter had other pieces of gutter attached to it on each end. To do the repair he carefully had to lower the gutter while still attached to other pieces which is where there was a chance that gutter could have broke. once the gutter was lowered the gutter then needed to be tucked under the flashing and re-pitched with the right angle for the gutter to drain properly. The customer was quoted a price for a repair not an hourly labor charge. The price was for a repair weather it took 1 hour or 5 hours. the only time the price would have gone up is if he was unable to repair it and had to replace it. This job wasn't any less work than expected there was just a chance that it could have been a bigger job and Miguel wanted the customer to understand that. The customer was very appreciative that he was able to do the repair and not have to replace the gutter signed a contract agreeing to the price before any work was done. Two weeks later he called and felt overcharged because he only spent one hour there. They never discussed an hourly rate and we don't charge by the hour we charge by the job."
I am very happy with Custom Made Gutters? installation at my home. From scheduling an estimate to completing the job, everything was done promptly and on time. Their price was right in line with comparable work, and materials were good quality with a nice assortment of colors. Miguel was pleasant and very professional, and offered practical suggestions and solutions to my questions.
