I chose Mr. Weintz due to the positive reviews on this site, and I wasn't disappointed. We sat in the house with our realtor and the seller's realtor during the entire time that he was doing the home inspection, so I can attest to the level of thoroughness. He went into every nook and cranny in the house, testing everything and taking several pictures. Our seller's realtor even seemed a bit annoyed by his thoroughness, mentioning to us more than once during the couple of hours that he was here that home inspections "normally shouldn't take that long." Immediately after the inspection, he gave a very thorough verbal report to my husband and I, showing us pictures of his areas of concern on a tablet and explaining in detail what he thought were potential problems, as well as things he thought were in good condition. He took his time to make sure we understood everything. His demeanor and attitude was extremely professional the entire time. Within a few days of his on-site inspection, he emailed both my realtor and I a very detailed, report. The report included several pictures, with detailed observations and recommendations. The way the report was laid out and the level of detail that it included was a lot more than I expected, even after I had seen the quality of the inspection he conducted. It was the work of a very thorough, detail-oriented professional who obviously holds himself and his business to exceptionally high standards In conclusion, I would recommend Mr. Weintz 100%. I don't think it's possible that anyone in the Reno area could do a better job than him and I hope that his business prospers, because as long as he continues to do that level of work, he deserves all the success in the world.

He was very thorough and gave very good explanations about any of the issues with the townhouse.

Buyers hired company but it effected the sale of our home. It had information that was not accurate about the condition of the foundation. We lost several buyers and it put a bad mark on our property because we now had to disclose the false information on the report to potential buyers. We hired a building contractor and found no problems with the foundation. This cost money for us to prove his report was not accurate.

Kevin is a wonderful, thorough, patient and honest inspector.  It's not common to find a person who is both skilled with the practical things in life and communication.  Kevin is one of those people.  His knowledge helped us avoid a beautiful, charming house that was an absolute disaster under its façade and helped us understand the amount of work needed for another house that we ended up buying. We really appreciated that he never offered an opinion or bias, he just gave us the facts.  We are now 2 months into home ownership, and everything he has said has been spot on.  We have referred to his inspection report again and again, which is very specific, complete with photos and color coding to emphasize priority levels.  Home owning and renovation are very costly, and knowing what you are getting into makes all the difference in the world.  We are so grateful to Kevin for his attention to detail and  thorough understanding of all the components that make up a house, he is truly a master. He even gave us a discount for his second time giving us a inspection, which was a real life saver for us, it was very kind.   He has made the structural aspects of first time home buying understandable and fun. Kevin performed an inspection on a new construction home I am purchasing. Kevin was very thorough and patient with all of my questions. I learned a great deal in the time I spent with Kevin and he gave me many tips to maintain my home after I purchase it.. Kevin emailed his written report very promptly. His report was very thorough, complete with many color photos, and his comments were color coded in order of priority. I gave his report right to the builder to make the correction process easy. Great job Kevin! What an excellent value!

Kevin Weintz performed a contractor's inspection on our new home that was built by KB Homes less than a year ago. I debated whether it made economic sense to pay for such an inspection given the new home is under warranty, but I'm VERY glad we did! Kevin was on-time and very professional; after several minutes of conversation about key areas I wanted him to look at, the way he responded indicated he's extremely knowledgeable and put me at east that I had made a good choice for a home inspector. I chose Kevin based on Angieslist reviews rather than obtaining a realtor recommendation (I've had mixed experiences from that before), my key objective was to find someone that really knows their stuff, and can objectively report on findings, free from any conflicts of interest.
I let Kevin do his thing for about an hour and a half, and we met after to discuss key findings. He covered all key areas and identified several things that I'm glad we caught early (about a half dozen roofing/flashing problems, a significant electrical problem with the wrong sized breaker, problem with the hot water heater vent, big problem with return air duct in the attic restricting air flow, areas that need to be caulked, etc.). I received a detailed report, complete with pictures of all areas that need attention 3 days afterwards, and Kevin was easy to reach by phone to address a few follow-up questions I had after receiving the report.
Overall, I was extremely pleased with the inspection process and the value delivered and would not hesitate to use Kevin again. My highest recommendation!

We were building a new home and ran into a few delays. Kevin was very accommodating with scheduling and did a complete and thorough job. He even offered to help us out if we ran into resistance from our builder for any items that were found. I would recommend his services to EVERYONE.

We called Kevin Weintz for a home inspection in October 2012. He replied to my voice mail almost immediately
and we were able to schedule a time that worked for us since we were coming from out of state to do this inspection. He was very pleasant, professional and accommodating to all of our questions and requests. The inspection went extremely well, Kevin was at the property before I was and I’m always a few minutes early! He worked thoroughly and meticulously with every area of the
project. He explained every detail, every item that needed to be considered for repairs or just general maintenance for us. He offered to return after we moved into the property to answer any questions we may have after everything was settled in. His report was outstanding as was his performance. If you have any questions, he is available to answer them and is very knowledgeable in the industry. Don’t go anywhere else, call Kevin!

The inspection went very well. Kevin was able to slot us in with only a couple of days notice. When I arrived at the property at the agreed upon time he was already unloaded and had started the inspection. He did a thorough job and took the time to explain to me what was going on his report and why he was putting it on the report. He also made sure to qualify issues that needed to be fixed right away and others that could stand to wait awhile.
Also he took some time to explain how the local climate affected houses in Reno. As my wife and I are new to the area, I really appreciated learning some of the home maintenance tips that are required in local climate.
The inspection was performed on Friday and I had a soft copy of the report in my email inbox on Sunday morning complete with color photographs of all the issues that he found during the inspection. I would use Weintz Inspection Services again without reservation.

Kevin was very personable answering all our questions and taking the time to explain issues in detail. He was extremely professional and provided suggestions for repairs in addition to simply identifying them. His final report was very detailed and included pictures of problem areas. Mr. Weintz was flexible and responsive in making time in his schedule to accomodate an inspection given short notice. He arrived on time and took the time to explain to us his background, methodology, and outline what he would be looking for and how. He began his inspection on the outside and the roof of the house, before inspecting the inside. He welcomed our questions and interruptions during his inspection in order to fully explain his findings on quality and building elements, to include a wealth of information on good and bad construction practices which he was able to provide from his 20 years as a contractor, previous to his career as a home inspector. Overall, he spent more than five hours inspecting the house, much of that time spent patiently explaining everything he was seeing in the course of his inspection. He produced a thorough and well-crafted written report, complete with digital photos, which he delivered to us within three days. In short, Mr. Weintz's professional service was integral in our decision on whether to buy the home in question, and we were glad to have been able to benefit from his professionalism.
