Welcome to VCA Feline Medical Center. We are is dedicated to providing the highest quality of healthcare for our patients and thorough education for our clientele. We achieve this through our compassion and use of advanced technology. Together we strive as a team to develop a diagnosis and sensible treatment plan for each patients health care issues. VCA Feline Medical Center [VCA FMC] was established in 1995 as Reno’s first and Northern Nevada’s premier cat exclusive veterinary hospital. Pursing his passion for all cats, Scott A. Thompson DVM sold his two prior veterinary hospitals in Redding California for one simple reason, “I no longer felt comfortable bringing my own cats to my own hospitals because of the barking dogs!” Dr. Scott A. Thompson selected the Caughlin Ranch Shopping Center for this 2,880 sq. ft. facility to bring his now 32 years of Veterinary practice experience to Reno. In addition to being committed to raising the standard of feline healthcare in Northern Nevada, Dr. Thompson has also invested much of his time and resources establishing the personnel who share his mission for cats and their families. Our combined Veterinary staff provides 52 years Veterinary knowledge and experience; 25 years of that has been dedicated exclusively on cats! Equal time and resources have allowed the VCA FMC to equip the hospital with an incredible array of ever-evolving diagnostic and therapeutic instruments, tactics and protocols.. VCA Feline Medical Center has been great.  We have an older cat, and Dr. Thompson seems to strike just the right balance between looking into concerns and stressing the cat (and us) out with batteries of unneccesary tests.

Dr. Thompson is an outstanding vet. One of the best I have ever known.  He took time to thoroughly reexamine my kitty and talk to me about what needed to be done to further help my kitty. Dr.Thompson will also spend much time on the phone with me when necessary to explain lab results.  He is extremely knowledgeable on feline medicine, compassionate, and kind.  I have complete confidence in his medical care of my entire cat family.  He has been my feline vet for more than 15 years, and I hope he never retires!  He is the absolute best!

It has been going like this for about a year for one cat, about five months for another. They have been on various medications as trials with adjustments as needed. The vets keep current with their most recent symptoms and responses to the medications and respond as quickly as possible--sometimes even calling in the evenings long after hours at the clinic. All vets and staff are very caring and gentle with the animals. The desk staff are very helpful and knowledgable.
I have used this practice for nearly 15 years and will continue with them.

They only specialize in cats.  They are wonderful.  Dr.  Scott Thompson is the veterinarian and he has a lot of knowledge.  He's been in business, for I don't know how long but quite a while.  He really knows what he's doing.  He's got a wonderful bedside manner and takes the time to explain things in a very easy to understand manner.  The staff is really friendly and we can get in right away.  They are a little expensive but they are worth it because he's a cat specialist.  He's absolutely my favourite veterinarian.

They are competent doctors. The front desk staff is very sweet and caring. They know you by name and they are responsive. They are skilled veterinarians. However, they are a bit pricey.

They are just excellent! When you go through having to put your animals down they are really good and they stand by you! They will send you cards and are good about helping you through it. Their prices are right and they have all the latest equipmet as well and it's a pleasant place to go to! Everyone here is very nice!

I just love Dr Kingery - she is very knowledgeable, smart and gently loving with the kitty. Unfortunately, I cannot afford the prices of this facility for routine kitty care.  However, I can highly recommend Dr Kingery for managing complex medical care for cats.
