So far, it's excellent work. They do spine surgeries. It's a big, fancy, modern and gorgeous place. They do surgeries. It's all about spinal surgeries and injuries. They do a lot of the spinal surgeries where they have minimal openings and laparoscopic stuff. You can walk the next day. They do it with lasers. They're really well-known. They're topnotch. They're very nice.

Dr. Lynch is fantastic. He knows his stuff. A different doctor told me I would have to have a 3-disk fusion, but Dr. Lynch did a few short tests and determined it was only a 2-disk fusion. There is a huge difference between the two! I am sooo thankful I found Dr. Lynch. The surgery went wonderfully. Recovery began with visits to Dr. Lynch and Dr Ken Schaefer, who also was great. I began physical therapy at Spine Nevada shortly after the surgery. Torrey is my Physical Therapist, and he is awesome. He has helped me and coached me in more ways than you can imagine. I give Spine Nevada the highest ratings possible. They deserve it!

I see a spine doctor in Carson City (and work in CC), but I live in Reno. So, when my dr. recommended an epidural, I asked him to refer me to someone in Reno instead of Carson. He referred me to Spine Nevada. I was in a lot of pain at the time, but couldn't get in for about 6 weeks. Then, I realized that appointment was an office appt with the dr. Dr. Burns asked me a series of questions, made me take a drug test, gave me 5 prescriptions and a TENS unit, and recommended an epidural. Uhm, yeah, I knew that, that's why I was referred there. He basically tried to take over my care from the Dr. I was already happy with. I got the prescriptions filed to the tune of $380 and scheduled the epidural. I had never been to Summit Surgery and had no idea and didn't even think about what hospital it was associated with. Epidural didn't help at all and when I went in for my follow up, Dr. Burns didn't even remember/have records that it was done. Didn't really give me much confidence. He recommended several other procedures, but I asked to talk with the surgeon, so he referred me....which took another couple of weeks.
then I started getting bills: Drug tests: $600 in house (which they write off if insurance won't pay), plus $540 from the lab they send it to (after my insurance negotiated or paid over $1,000). Really?!?! $2,000 for a drug test?!?! and he didn't prescribe any narcotics, so I'm not sure why it's needed, but that price is ridiculous. when I talked with billing they said and quot;they'll send you two bills and then write it off). So, I think it's just a big scam to overcharge, then show a huge loss for taxes. Epidural: Turns out he sent me to a facility that's not in my network, so the amount went to a separate deductible/out of pocket. I never thought to ask/check. the doctor knew my insurance, I gave my card to the facility - nobody bothered to mention to me that it was out of network or give me a charge estimate: $1300 just for the hospital charge - not including dr, radiologist, etc. The procedure took about 5 minutes. $1300 for 5 minutes?!?!?
So, my conclusion is that Dr. Burns just cares about getting $$ for his practice, the drug test company, the hospital facilities, etc. and doesn't care that patients might not have unlimited funds.
I will give Spine Nevada some positive comments: I still go to PT there - Torrey is fantastic and has no issue with me going to a different doctor. Joe Oliverez, PA-C is very nice and helpful, not pushy. I only met Dr. Lynch once and he seems nice, too. They gave me their medical opinion (2nd opinion for surgery) and options and left it to me to make the decision.
So, if you need surgery, get an opinion from them; if you need PT - see Torrey; if you need pain management/non-surgical treatment, go elsewhere!

Torrey is absolutely fantastic! I have low back pain caused by herniated and compressed disk and neck/arm pain also. Torrey gets to know each patient, will work on what is prescribed and will look at anything else you might have an issue with. He is very hands on - he'll check out out/adjust at each appt as well as make you do exercises, which he will change up every time. He's really friendly and knowledgeable. I feel much stronger than when I started. Unfortunately, the pain continues and a new MRI showed the compression has gotten worse (thought the bulge got better). I opted for fusion surgery. Torrey then helped me and quot;prehab - get in shape for surgeryand quot;. He as been very helpful with getting me strong and helping me understand what to expect and insure me that I'll recover quickly and feel better after. He even gave me his sister's phone number because she had the same surgery years ago. He really cares about his patients and will spend whatever time you need with him and his assistants (I'm rarely out of there in less than an hour). He recommends home exercises, but is also realistic about what people will do on their own. He does not require you go to the Dr's at Spine Nevada (I've seen them, but prefer the Dr. I see in Carson City). He just does the best job he can as a therapist.

So far things are going well I have new creams and patches for my painful areas and I am doing physical therapy too. I guess only time will tell at this point. But I have had DR Burns' office call to set up Trigger Point Injections as further pain management. I feel like although these are not maybe your normal pain issues, well at least the sit bone one, that DR Burns is taking me seriously and not making me feel stupid or whiney I really appreciate this. So as of now I am still in therapy but I would highly recommend him and his staff, his Medical Assistant James is awesome.

After surgery I had a few complications NONE were any doing of Dr Lynch or his staff! However Dr Lynch was right there to check on me first thing in the AM as was several PA's that work with Dr Lynch to make sure that everything was going well. They catered to my every need from nausea which was horrible to pain control. I could not have had better care from anyone's staff!!! Even after I went home when I had a question they would always call me back within 15 minutes or less!! They were wonderful and I would highly recommend them to anyone considering a spine surgery from top to bottom.. They have their own Physical Therapy that specialize in spine recovery and pain management for all the rest!!
Considering what this was all about I had a GREAT Experience! I highly recommend Spine Nevada and all there PA's and office staff. All very friendly and caring.
