We signed an annual contract with them in late 2014. They finished the season and winterized our irrigation system. Spring came early in 2015 and they started up the irrigation system, started mowing every two weeks, and started the beginning of year items (e.g., aeration, fertilizing).
Then in April they started the yard care services. The crew came but did not finish the job. In May, same problem. This time I took pictures and sent a note asking why the crew had not finished. I was told that they were only given so much time to complete the job and if we wanted the tasks finished, we would have to renegotiate the contract.
We had signed a "services" contract and they were working it as an hourly contract. I kept asking for them to complete the services that we had contracted for. I sent them a letter documenting the issues and requested a full refund due to a clear breach of contract. I also filed a complaint with the Nevada State Contractors Board (NSCB). At that point, the owner Lebo Newman got involved. He agreed that we had not signed an hourly contract and was not sure why they were treating it as if it were one. He asked me what they could do. I requested a full refund of the contract and told him that I was willing to pay a fair price for the services they had provided.
This idea of refunding the contract, then having me pay for services did not seem to make any sense to Signature. I was told several times that they wanted to refund a difference. In order to bring closure to this problem, I agreed to an amount to pay them and they refunded the difference. I then requested that my complaint with NSCB be closed.
The crews that came to do the work were professional and knew their stuff. One crew leader told me that the office was not giving them enough time to complete the tasks. The source of the problem was clearly the people in charge, not the worker!
Word of caution. If you sign an annual contract with Signature, beware that they are very likely to treat it as an hourly contract. You may be better off with a "time and materials" type of contract.
I would like to also note that we had a few "non-contract" jobs that Signature performed. They were bid (we accepted) and they were completed without any issues.

We have had Signature for a few years.  They have always been hard to communicate with.  Right now I am just frustrated with them.  In October of 2014 we had our front lawn removed and replaced using zeroscape.  We have no lawn left.  Knew I would receive my 2015 contract renewal from Signature in February and would just not sign and return.  Instead I got a letter from them saying they were using a clause in the 2014 contract to automatically renew the contract unless they got a 30 day written notice from us cancelling the contract.  That was received the end of January.  Beginning of February I e-mailed them and sent them a copy of the e-mail signed cancelling my contract.  Now on Feb 21st I receive a job order and a 2015 service schedule and telling me I will receive invoices starting in April.  Again, I have sent off an e-mail and will followup Monday with a phone call.
Just incredible.  Either they don't look at their e-mail or even their mail.  I have a feeling this isn't the last I will need to address this issue with them.
Another issue - shouldn't Signature send out some people to check on last year's previous customers?  Have there been any changes?  I think if I owned that Company it is something I would do on a yearly basis.

Signature landscape broke at least 2 sprinkler heads each of the last 3 times they aerated my yard. When we called to notify them, we were assured that their repair technician would be right out to fix them. The first time they did fix the sprinkler promptly but did such a poor job that the sprinkler heads were clogged with mud. the second and third times they did not show up when they said they would and we had to contact them multiple times. As a result I had to dig up the sprinklers and replace them myself to keep the lawn from dying. The last time they aerated this year, they again broke 2 more sprinkler heads AND left the side gate open which allowed my 2 dogs to leave the yard. When I called to complain, they apologized and said they would not charge us for this and quot;serviceand quot;. Turns out they charged my card anyway, which required another call to get the charge reversed. Overall, I had a very negative experience with this company and cannot recommend them.

In early June of 2012 I went from my home state to personally see the property (which is out of state for me). My backyard was flooded to the point where there was about 1-1.5 inches of water pooled in much of the yard. There were troughs in the barren but soaked soil that were apparently made by the wheels of the lawnmower. In other words, instead of reporting the flooded yard to their superiors, they just mowed the islands of grass that did take root, along with the flooded and barren soil. The dandelions looked healthy though. My water bill was extremely high that month and I did not even have renters yet. Now that I have renters, the water bill is much more reasonable. The dead bush removal and bush trims, and yard cleanup also were not done, but they were very quick to bill for it. That day when I saw it, I called a representative of Signature, and he came out to meet me immediately. Upon seeing the situation, he had it corrected soon and re-seeded, but why did it take me to personally see the problem before something was done? They had no eye for quality watching to see if their crew were doing a decent job. Recently, the renter that is there now mentioned that the mowing crew had knocked off a sprinkler head, and replaced it with one that did not give good enough coverage. This caused a large brown spot in the lawn. I have been told that they would now replace the sprinkler head with the correct one for no charge. Again, it was feedback from the renter and my manager that alerted me to the problem. So I am again concerned that Signature did not alert me to the problem or alert their own quality department so the problem could be addressed. After about 3.5 months, pictures of the backyard were taken by my manager that shows how the lawn presently looks. It looks very poor with many bald spots around the edges. It appears as if a little TLC and adjustment of the sprinklers in a timely manner would have prevented this. If I was there, I would adjust the sprinklers myself, but I thought that going with "professionals" would be the best thing to do since I own this rental but live out of state. There is a lesson learned here in that "You do not always get what you paid for". The biggest dissapointment is that they seem to have no eye for their own quality. Maybe they would do fine if I was there, or maybe they have good and bad teams and I got stuck with a bad team. There are some very good reviews for them on Angies List. I don't know. The frontyard came out fine.

I used this company's website to book aeration x2 and fertilization for my front lawn only. As a busy working mom I loved the website option. The website does require that you pay at time of ordering rather than paying when service is completed. After placing my order two weeks went by with no phone call, email, or service done. I emailed the company, no response. I called the company daily and the secretary would just take a message. Two more weeks, nothing. By this time I wasn't sure I would ever hear from them so I put a stop on the PayPal payment and left yet another phone message asking to please cancel my order. Low and behold, 24 hours after canceling the payment the company called me! They promised to be out the next week and I decided to give them the chance. They did indeed come out the next week and aerate and fertilize and seemed to do a good job at it to be fair. My lawn does look better. However they serviced the front and back when I had specified only the front yard since I worry about chemicals in the back with pets and children. The icing on the cake was when two weeks later I received a paper bill for the service in the mail! The service I had prepaid for online! And the paper bill was for less than I paid online which did not make me feel good about the amount I had paid. Even though the original order was for aeration x 2 I'm not even going to try for the second aeration. I consider it the price of a lesson learned.

"Hello Member. I was the fellow who called you after the cancellation and take these snafu’s very seriously. Customer service is what we sell, and we feel a beautiful yard is the just side effect of great service. Somehow, we dropped the ball on providing you the easiest lawn care services in the state and I apologize for this. In the middle of training our new support team, we neglected to highlight how important web orders like yours are to the operation. Every month, we service hundreds of customers with outstanding results, and even so, just one upset customer is unacceptable. If you wish, I’d like to offer you that last aeration this fall at no charge – you can expect a refund in your PayPal account. Please give me a buzz and I’ll make sure you are more than satisfied! Call (775) 857-4333 and ask for Steve. Thank you for being a Signature Landscapes customer and using our web order tools. I truly hope to hear from you soon. -Steve"

I am very pleased with them. They charge $150 a year to turn on and turn off the sprinkler system for us. They also repair and maintain any of the pipes related to the sprinkler system. The office staff is very pleasant over the phone. The service tech that comes to my home, Dennis, gave me his cell phone number to make it easier to reach him if I need anything. When he came to turn on my sprinkler the first time he found a problem with the valve and fixed it on the spot. The price he quoted for that repair was very close to the actual price I was charged on the bill I received later. I will use this company again this spring.

They do full service. The quality of their work is excellent. I have a very large yard. They are expensive, but they do a lot of work. I don't think they're outrageously more expensive than others that I have used. They actually do a better job than them. I spend a lot of money for their service.

Update- The company did call me after my review was posted. They were apologetic and seemed decent enough to give a second try. The worker that came out was great but arrived an hour late. I think the owner who called then forgot to setup my job with his workers as the worker showed up 20min after I called to ask where they were. So if you can get a worker to come out they are great, but there seems to be some organizational difficulties at the scheduling and daily operation level. I think once things become a regular scheduled event, things will be ok. Original comment -Company never replied to online inquiry. I followed up with a phonecall and was told I'd be called back. I never was. Would hate to see how they treat existing customers if this is how they treat prospective ones.

"As always, we're glad to hear any type of feedback - good or bad. We're now glad to call the owner of this complaint a customer - and we're planning on making sure he's a fan for years to come. Our crews have already repaired the leaky irrigation and are scheduled to keep his turf lush for years and years. Thanks!"

Had a bad main sprinkler valve that I ask them to replace. When the work was completed, I challenged the weatherization (sp?) of their work. The person I spoke with was all but snotty as he explained the "We know what we're doing". Of course the system froze and caused a major leak. I called their office, expressed my concern that the mass of water gushing out would cause damage to the house and was told they were "too busy at the moment" and would call me to schedule an "appointment". After several hours of us losing hundreds of gallons of water and my continual calls to them to express the need for them to come ASAP, they finally did. Upon arrival, they insisted that whatever work they did would be billed to me. Small claims court found otherwise and I was awarded the full amount of damages. What a hassle!!! Months and months of, again, nothing but a hassle!

"We always appreciate any type of comments from our customers – they’re the guideposts helping us to become a better company. However, this post is a bit awkward in that the service mentioned had taken place four years ago in September of 2006, when the company had different owners. Our new ownership and professional teams pride themselves on excellence in the field and when working on a customer’s property. It is our top priority to provide the best service and product possible. This is the very reason our 100% satisfaction guarantee was created three years ago. Our SWAT teams are on call 24 hours a day to quickly solve emergency problems because we know too well the havoc caused by sluggish service. In the four years since this incident, Reno Lawn & Landscape is more proud than ever to have the opportunity to service the landscape construction and lawn care needs of the Truckee Meadows. There’s nothing more important than leaving a project with a satisfied customer."

Their work was adequate but we just didn’t require their services as much as we had before. They were expensive but their quality was okay. We paid a monthly fee and it got to be pretty expensive. Their responsiveness was average but they were here when they said they would be.

Was somewhat embarrassed at the state of the lawn -- we'd just bought the house, and simply hadn't had time to get the lawn under control with everything else going on. They did a great job -- the jungle turned into a quality lawn literally overnight! Our chief beef, though, was their lack of follow-through -- when we hadn't heard back for 4 days after submitting a "45-second online estimate," we called to check up on it and were told we'd get a call back with the figure. We actually got an estimate in the door that evening -- no biggie, but long delay. Then, we called to set up service, and were told we'd be called back with what day they'd do our mows -- never got a call back, but there were guys out mowing our lawn the next morning. Can't fault them for prompt service, but lack of response to inquiries and failure to follow through on call-backs was pretty disappointing.

"We definitely appreciate the comments on this one! We're eager to help our customers - and sometimes when we don't hear from our clients, we'll err on the side of getting the work done as quickly as possible, rather than risking a property left untouched. We'll keep better tabs on our communication from here on out. Have a great summer!"
