Independent Specialists of Reno

Called the guys and talked about the issues the day before, they said it wouldn’t be an issue and just drop the car off tomorrow. I dropped it off the next morning and called around 4pm cause it was Friday and couldn’t leave the car all weekend. They told me the only thing they found was a cracking serpentine belt, but everything else checked out good. Now here’s the shady part, when I went to pick it up he gave me a bill for almost $60! ($4.34 in shop supplies) I asked what this was and he said it’s for the inspection. I asked if this was going to be refunded after the repair was completed and he said “no, I had to pay a tech to look at your car.” The reason this was shady is because there was at no time an implied amount to be charged either written or verbally. Never been to a place that charged for inspections unless it was for a car sale. I’m sure both of the guys running the shop have taken a flat into Discount Tire for a free fix that Discount Tire paid a tech an hourly wage for.

Great, very friendly and knowledgeable. They got me in right on time and will take care of my car needs from now own.

Steve and his partner at the desk were polite, courteous, HONEST, professional...what a relief to find this kind of service. They gave me an honest evaluation of my SUV's problem which requires a future visit, yet have corrected things so that the vehicle runs better than it has in years. They do not include unnecessary work, and do not "pad" the bill like so many other auto repair shops in Reno; in fact, I could have saved thousands of dollars in the past few years if I had known about "Independent Specialists of Reno". These guys are great! They provide that good old-fashioned service! And I finally have a car that runs well....Score!

Office was very familiar with my SUV, Acura MDX. They performed the fluid service per Honda's specifications. They finished the service exactly at the time promised. Staff and employees were very professional and explained the service performed. I have already scheduled my next oil change with Independent Specialists.

I would highly recommend Independent Specialists of Reno.  They do what they say.  They are always prompt.  Their work is excellent.  We never had any problems with the results.  We've been using them for several years and we've never been disappointed.  Their price is not cheap but it is not expensive as the dealership.

They do quality work for reasonable price. They're responsive and they do the work more than you need it. They stand by to do the work.

Very good shop. Did not pad bill with unneeded repairs. Explained why and what they recommended. Very professional. Would not hesitate to go back. Been trying to eliminate steering vibration for two years. First shop to discover real problem and fix it. The wheel bearing was sealed type. Can't lube so not an easy repair.

This is the best repair shop in all of Reno. When it comes to taking care of your Honda there is no better place to go. Steve, Chris and the guys are the best. We go there for all of our Honda repairs because we know they will not rip us off plus they are extremely careful when they work on your vehicle and they only do A+++++ work...I would recommend making an appointment though, because they book out many days in advance due to their quality of work. But when your appointment date comes they get you in right away and the price will be fair. I cannot say enough good things about this place there is not enough room on this page. Most shops just want your money, but this place believes that there is not a second chance to make a first impression. Yes they have to make a living but you can trust them.

My car was barely turning over two mornings in a row. Called Independent Specialists and they were able to accommodate my schedule and get the work done quickly. They kept in contact with detailed emails during the day while I was working and unable to take calls. 
I have been using Independent Specialists for over a year and they are quick to respond and very accommodating(I live in Tahoe.) When I have a concern they thoroughly investigate and provide detailed findings. Steve provides clear explanations on problems and how to maintain my car for optimal performance and longevity. I have only had excellent service.

It went perfect as usual with these guys. They go up and beyond what I see wrong with my car and tell me what else was wrong. 
I have a semi-rare 2001 Honda Prelude Type SH and parts are difficult to find for it but they did it. Yea!

These guys are wonderful!  They took a look at my rear brakes last year (around 10/12) and told me I had enough pad left on them to wait until spring to replace them. And they DIDN'T EVEN CHARGE ME for just looking at them. I went back in June of this year and had them replaced.

I took my vehicle to Independent Specialists of Reno expecting to pay a couple grand but walked out paying a couple hundred. They are a locally owned place by a brother and brother-in-law. Any time I have any type of repair that has to do with mechanical I bring it to them. If I schedule and make appointment before I can pick up my vehicle the same day because they're fast.

My husband deals with them mostly, but they seemed like they do a good job.  They fix the problem the best they can.  I think they work hard to try and make sure that they did their part.  Their price is reasonable.   They do a good job on working on schedule when we need help with our cars.  Sometimes, they take longer because more people come in, but they are still pretty prompt in getting things done.

On time, everything taken care of, and some extras done at no charge since we have been seeing them for so long.

They have an online appointment program that I like.  The owners and techs are nice and professional.  They were recommended to me by a friend at work.  I'll most likely use them again for any major work that needs to be done.

I have used them for a couple of years now.  They are fine for normal service.  However, my partner had a car in there, and they recommended service that wasn't needed.  You have to be cautious.

Their cost is moderate.  They are not overpriced which is one of the reasons why we go to them.  Everything has always been on time.  They give us a time that it will be complete and it is completed by that time.  The only problem is that sometimes they are very busy so it might be a week before one can get the car in unless it's an emergency.  If it's just for a tune or a regular maintenance issue it might be a week before they might get in there, but its well worth the wait compared to other automobile services and particularly compared to the cost of doing service at the dealership.  I think its well worth the money that one would spend there because they back everything up.  There's no compromise or anything else.  They guarantee their work.  We will not use anyone else unless they change hands.
