Felix left the area a year or more ago. My understanding is that the FX name was short for Felix. The lady who has taken over his business has done quite a bit of work for me since the beginning of the 2014. She inserted an i in the FX and the business is now called Fix Upholstery. Her work is great and I find the prices fair. Her business approach is very informal: verbal price quotation and no paperwork. I was a bit concerned with this approach when I left the first set of dining room chairs with her, but she has always come through without any surprises. I have never pushed her on time and it seems she works at her own pace. I'd say it takes her about a month to complete a project, but YMMV. There is a good upholstery fabric store near her shop at Plumb and Kietzke. In addition to upholstery work, she refinished the exposed wood on a set of 6 oak dining room chairs I had her do. Nice job!

Felix is friendly, professional and responsive.

We were going to D.C. for our son's graduation and I wanted to have my chairs recovered. Felix comes to your house and tells you the yardage that you need to have your furniture redone. After getting my fabric, he picks up the furniture and fabric. He is very careful about going over all the points, if it needs extra padding, where the padding looks to be worn, where you want your design placed, etc. When I returned 3 weeks later, I telephoned him and he returned my beautiful chairs the same day.
Reliability is important and he is very responsive and reliable. I would have him any time recover my furniture. I also saw a headboard he made and it is gorgeous!
