Chris H.
Aug 2013
Overflowed toilet resulted in insurance estimated damage of $35-40,000 Jan 2013. It's August 2013 and the work has yet to be completed.
This contractor lacked professionalism and failed to follow-up on requests. By project:
1) replaced foyer hardwood with slate and powder room hardwood with travertine - the tile subs were great once they got the ok from EC. Change orders were "fair" I suppose.
2) Wood floors - estimates took forever, very little communication and coordination with subs. Material sat for a month in our house before work initiated. Flooring Sub was "ok". They tried to merge old floor with new floor (a difficult task) and despite my asking for a threshold b/w rooms, they just went ahead and interlaced the old with the new floors (brazilian cherry) which is obvious to me, but maybe not others? the transitions were so-so..not as good as the originals..oh well
3) finish powder room toilet/sink installation - like pulling teeth to get this done...took months before we could use the bathroom even though the tile work was complete.
4) basement carpet - not the quality promised and color didn't match; sloppy installation
5) basement drop ceiling - oops "we forgot to replace the insulation we removed months ago"..guess we'll just remove the replacement tiles and stuff some insulation in there. Oh..what about replacing all the can lights??? nope...just left them all hanging there...still that way..8 months out from the original work order!!! ugh!! not to mention the mess they left -- screws, battery packs, debris, and so on.
6) finish work and baseboards - mediocre at best; definitely not precise. I suppose a renovation is never going to look like the original but the angles just look awful. Also forgot to touch up some areas. Lazy.
and did I mention the mess? our garage and all the stuff in it is now covered in sawdust
anyways, avoid EC construction LLC. Not sure how their Stockton office is, but the Reno one is terrible.
