Diamond Maintenance

Employee (owner?) responded immediately to request for service. He was very friendly, polite, and provided a positive expectation of service to be provided. When he arrived, it was obvious this was a business that was conducted out of a home--old passenger vehicle, no vehicle advertising, machine in back of car--not necessarily bad if the service is great, but not the best first visual impression. The employee brought in his equipment, which was really dirty, and made a big mess--again, not so bad if it all got cleaned up. I stayed in the kitchen for most of the two hours it took for the carpets to be cleaned, and did a quick inspection a little over half the way through. There were areas that were not done very well (cost saving technique to not pre-treat?), and the stairs looked HORRIBLE. The hose on the machine was dirty and left black marks all over the stairs and the walls. The employee did not seem to notice how bad the stairs looked, as he was starting to put away his machine when i asked him to re-do the stairs. He looked surprised when he looked up and saw at least three black marks on every step. He redid the stairs but did not extract much of the water from the carpet--we are on the third day and the carpets are still damp--would have been unlivable if the place was not vacant. He seemed upset when I asked him to re-do the stairs, but all he did was keep saying "you look so unhappy" and at one point screeched (yes, screeched . . .) at me that I was watching him like a hawk (I had been standing in the same room with him for less than 5 minutes). The finished result was acceptable but not great. I also had to re-touch the paint on all the corners. The first half of the transaction was pleasant, but as soon as I stated I was not completely satisfied with the quality of the work, things went downhill quickly.
