Bi State Electric Company

Bad job, amazing disregard for what I wanted. They changed where the pool equipment is turned off and on without asking me whether I wanted it changed. Since the pump house is located far from the house, I prefer to have the switch in the garage, where I can turn it on and off without going the distance to the pump house, which is unlighted and hard to get to at night. They did go back and put the switch where it was several days later, after arguing that my choice was not the "normal" choice. I really don't care where "most people" want their switches. I know where I want them. But not talking to me about this beforehand is just amazingly bad business.

In addition, there was no talk of where various required pipes and devices were to go. According to the clean-up electrician that I hired, some of them could have been placed in several locations. The price for correcting the placement of one of them, for example,  from the middle of a flower bed next to where people sit around the pool to a hidden spot would be about $400. Not this year, but later I will probably do it. Again why on earth didn"t they talk to me about these choices. Was I supposed to stand over them and tell them what to do as they worked?

There was some kind of funny business with a contractor for other work that I do not completely understand. It appears to me that perhaps Bi-State owed Riley Concrete (who built a new pool deck at the same time) money and they were working it off in some kind of angry state and I was the victim. Riley (the concrete guy) wanted me to pay him for the electric work, but when I gave him the check, his office said he had accidentally washed the check which he had left in his pocket, and I should leave a second check for them. I decided to run this arrangement by my banker, who said don't do this. I cancelled payment on the washed check. But I did not issue a second check. I had the bank do that. Unclear financial dealings. No respect for what I wanted done. Was the work competent? I think it was competent but ugly, but who knows?
