Primera is affiliated with Costco. A good thing to know - upgrade your Costco membership to an Executive Membership and you get 15% back (via check) at the end of every year for your purchases. We will get money back from our new kitchen!!! That was a tip told to us by our consultant, Roseanne from Primera. GREAT tip. Did not know that!
We got new countertops, kitchen sink and backsplash. Our choice in countertop was quartzite and pricey. It's called Blue Fusion. It's gorgeous. We asked for a discount for cash, but they don't haggle. Roseanne did work a bit with us, as we had a budget. Threw in the sink for free and got us $600 off the slabs we picked out. But that's about it. Also, you will have to go to the warehouse and pick out your slabs. Roseanne sets that up. Very important that you examine your slabs up close and carefully, as all of them have flaws, veins, scratches, etc., and when it's installed you then won't be "shocked" at how it looks under the light. It isn't errors on the crews fault of the condition of the slabs. Though, all of them can be fixed and buffed out. Know your slab before you choose it. It looks different standing up at the warehouse vs. laying down under kitchen lights in your kitchen.
The template guy came a week before install and did a template of the counter. Exact measurements for the cutting crew. You do have the option of laying out your own slab for cutting. You can go and pick out the sections of the slab you want cut for certain areas of your counter. I left it up to their expertise to cut the counter out giving me the best design, flow and color. They have an exact eye for this and did wonderful!
The demo/install team returned a week later, removed old counter and installed new. Did the seams, polished, cleaned up, and fixed most of the larger scratches, chips that we noticed.
Next day, backsplash crew came and took down old backsplash. Which ended up being a hard job as the old backsplash was installed with crazy adhesive. The guys ended up cutting out all the drywall to get the old splash out. Talk about dedication! They were here for six hours, just cutting and removing, then cutting new drywall and installing it. Really patient, nice guys. They were here until 7 pm doing all that work.
They returned the next day to hang new splash. That had to cure overnight. Next morning they returned to do the grout. During those two days, I noticed more scratches/chips in the counter and the counter guy came back and repaired them all. Flawless work. Truly an artist.
From the original consultation, until the final day of construction the guys were professional, clean, worked hard, on time, and did a beautiful job. Also, there is year warranty on all of it. You can have them come back to fix anything. I would recommend them to anyone. We are going to use them to do our bathroom sinks next.
I would advise that you have a week to do jobs like this. The hiccup with the old backsplash set us back a day, where we thought it would be a three day job turned into four. This was not the fault of the contractors.
5 stars for Roseanne, the consultant, and for each team member of all the crews that did our job.
I went to the warehouse to ask to look at the stone so I could match the sink and faucets and I was told I couldn't see it. After more unanswered calls, I went back into the showroom again and was told that the stone I purchased was not big enough for my counter and I'd have to choose another stone.
The truth was, they lost or sold the piece I purchased and were not truthful about what happened. I was offered another stone of a similar size, but I was not offered the same stone I purchased There was nothing I liked as much, but I was told I had to pick from something there. They only offered a similar size piece and would not make any effort to compensate me for their mistake.
When I called to ask to speak to a manager to see if we could resolve the problem, I was put on the phone with the person I called to complain about. This company has atrocious customer service. I would NEVER use them or recommend them. Do yourself a favor and pick another company.
Small project that most places were not interested in helping with &/or cost was going to be outrageous. Stopped in without an appt. a week prior & they took the time to show me some choices in the back production area. Returned a few days later, picked out my granite, order was written up, paid & was told it would be ready in a week.
Once I selected the granite they cut it to size, rounded the edges per my selection, & had it ready for pick within 7 days as promised
Also, provided a rough estimate for my other countertops if I decide to replace them with granite. Was told the granite remnant I selected was pretty common & could probably be able to complete a counter upgrade utilizing remnants which would save me a lot of money.
Very pleased with the staff.
Would recommend them to anyone with a small job! Referred to them by Lori at Home Depot!
I emailed the salesman and I explained to him I wanted to buy some crown molding rail for my cabinets and I wasn?t in a rush, didn?t need the molding until May, but I did want to know what my options were and get some pricing. When I realized some time had gone by and I didn?t hear anything, I emailed the first individual again and asked if there was someone else who could help me. He didn't reply, but the salesman did the next day.
The salesman said he?ll send me some info. Well since I was in no hurry I didn?t mind the back and forth with email, and we went BACK AND FORTH with the email. And I did speak to him several times. But it was always me having to call him back or email him back asking questions. As I said, I wasn't technically in a hurry and I figured they were busy, so I let it go that it was taking this long.
I finally got some definite pricing (after getting two different quotes because he made an error) and I went into their office to meet with the salesman to order it. On May 17th!! A bit later than I wanted to get it ordered since I was hoping to have it the middle of May, but there wasn't an absolute deadline on my end. I was told it would take about 3 weeks to get in. I waited and didn?t hear anything back. I started calling/emailing about 4 weeks after I ordered it and then I started getting the run around about the order not coming in, then it was misplaced, then the salesman had to ask another employee to find it and then another one and a round and round we went.
Finally, on July 8th, I was fed up and went into their office and sat and waited 45 MINUTES to talk to the Operations Manager, Mr. Hood, about the situation. Nobody knew what happened to my order but said he would look into it. A warehouse employee was present for that conversation and told me he would check again as well and call me the next day. Mr. Hood did offer me different molding that they had currently had in stock, but it was not to my liking and I chose not to accept that. Also during my
conversation with Mr. Hood it was learned that the price I was given for installation was hundreds of dollars more than it probably should have been. Granted, Mr. Hood didn't know much about my kitchen, but could tell based on my order, that it wasn't a huge kitchen and guesstimated on the install. Mr. Hood said it would cost approximately $150 to install; the salesman quoted me $500. (I originally decided to only purchase the molding and have it installed by someone else because the price I was quoted was way too high!) So needless to say I was quite disappointed to hear how much less it should have actually cost me. Mr. Hood had no explanation for the high quote of install that the salesman gave me. Nor did he even ask me if I still wanted it installed by them (for the much lower price). After just over an hour at their office Mr. Hood ensured me he would look into this and call me the next day.
The next day I followed up my conversation with Mr. Hood via email providing him the quotes I was given for purchase/installation AND a copy of my receipt. I never heard back from him. I did however hear from the warehouse person (a very nice guy, don?t know his name or I?d mention it here) later that day saying he found the molding, it was mislabeled. I went that day to pick it up. Interestingly enough everyone I had dealt with at Primera were gone when I went to pick it up. You?d think one person would be there to apologize and/or even offer to get it in my vehicle.
I?m extremely disappointed over this whole process. The fact that the manager didn?t follow up properly shows lack of customer service. The salesman never followed up with me afterwards either. As a matter of fact all I see was poor customer service by this company. The only people who were what appeared to be genuinely concerned were the receptionist and the warehouse guy. Another reason why this is frustrating and so disappointing for me is that I wanted to special order some additional cabinetry items through them, and now I have to find a distributor OUT OF STATE to do this because I won?t do business with them again.
I'm writing to commend your employee Reba. Reba has been above and beyond helpful since day one of our kitchen upgrade process. She was the third person that I met with to get a bid on our granite counters and tile backsplash, but she was the last person I needed to meet with. She was very helpful when she came to our home for the initial bid; patiently answering all of my questions, and making suggestions for things that I would have missed. She also took the time to meet with me in your beautiful showroom and helped with selecting coordinating tile. That would have been enough to justify the slight premium difference in Primera's bid versus the competitors, but as it turned out I would need her assistance a few more times as our project took a couple of twists and turns. She helpfully accommodated a short notice postponement in our install date as I had to leave town for a funeral. She must be on call 24/7 because she was texting, emailing or phoning me during evening and weekend hours. At one point I told Reba "I' have no idea how much money you make, but I'm pretty sure that it's not enough for what you do."
This is our 5th house/kitchen to remodel. We've worked with a lot of different contractors over the years. Reba stands out as one of the best She remained cheery, patient, helpful and professional even after a few things went awry - relating to a shortage in the amount of tile needed to do the job and then waited patiently as I selected a different tile. There were several times when I was "annoyed with myself" in this process, but Reba hung in there with me and now I have a kitchen that I love, largely thanks to her.
As a customer I view that the best indicator of a good contractor is how they handle the situation when something goes wrong, because something usually does. I have never encountered a contractor who provided the level of customer service that Reba provided. I was so impressed with her that I referred a friend to her before our project was even completed - which I have never done in the past.
I'm sure in your line of work, you hear a lot of negative feedback, it's a joy to send along a positive note for Reba. She's a keeper and certainly deserves a raise!
We ae satisfied with our installation, and would use them again.
We had to pull up 1,000 sq ft of tile and repaint the entire unit.
