The clerk offered us insurance on the vehicle. When I told him our personal insurance covered this, he went into the very high pressure mode. Showed us a page with three levels of insurance, with the lowest covering basic loss, damage, etc. When I said no again, he started pointing out all of the terrible things that would happen if we didn't buy this, including a long, draw-out litigation. I asked the price and it was $26 per day, more than the car rental($22/day). I told him one last time that I didn't want the insurance and he finally relented.
I don't appreciate the high pressure sales pitch, based on fear of terrible things happening if you don't do something. Obviously a bait-and-switch operation. Offer a very low rate for the car then more than double it with insurance. I usually use Hertz or Budget, but thought I'd try Thrifty due to the low rate. This will be the last time I make this mistake.
