The work was not completed to my satisfaction. Two of the holes were never filled in. The worker thought they would be covered by the new door. They were not. I was told on the day the work was done that if the new shower doors didn't cover everything to just call the office and he would come back out. I have tried to talk to the owner but he won't return my calls. The glass company even tried to get him to call me and he still won't. The receptionist has been very rude as I try to get this situation resolved.

They did such a great job- I am very pleased. They guarantee the work for a year. As far as maintenance- it is very easy. All I have to clean it with is dish soap. Be sure to wait 7 days before putting anything on the sink counter (it needs time to dry).

First the owner Tom came out to assess cracking in the bottom of the shower stall of our RV, as a different vendor under warranty did not fix the problem correctly the first time, and I wanted to choose someone that got good reviews on Angies List.  He pointed out that although our RV was no longer within its 1 year full warranty, many shower warranties from the manufacturer were for 3 years, which we were within.  He was correct and saved us about $500.  He stated that the framework under the shower stall itself had not been installed correctly, and that a complete overlay of the bottom of the stall was necessary.  I contacted our RV dealer, who contacted the shower manufacturer mutiple times.  After a few months, I contacted the shower manufacturer myself, and they took the phone number of Surface Specialists and said they would call back.  After multiple phone calls, I was told by the shower manufacturer that Surface Specialists never called back.  The person who answered my call at Surface Specialists told me that the phone number she had for me did not work, which made no sense, since she had called me several times a few months before.  We finally got the appointment set up, and Billy came to do the work.  It looked fine initially, but started to chip paint within a few months.  I called Surface Specialists again, and they made an appointment for Tom to come out, but sent Billy.  They made an afternoon appointment range of noon-4pm to come out, and called at 9:30am that same day to say they were on their way.  They did not know why the paint began to chip so quickly, but came back out at another time and day to refinish the surface again.  That was six months ago, and the surface seems to be in very good condition now.  I have not been sure how to assess their work, since some of it was so good, and some not very good.  I was told during the course of this process that the office person that dropped the ball for several months no longer works there, but there was still too much confusion with their office staff after that.  The work done by Billy was great, but it took two tries to get it right.  I believe that the people associated with this company truly care about the work they do and their customers, but continue to miss some of the details.  Tom, the owner, is very knowledgeable and helpful.  I am on the fence about choosing this company again, but did not feel that they deserved a bad evaluation.

Excellent job.  The resufacing of the shower and tub give a brand new look as well as a now slip bottom.  The cultured marble looks almost brand new, there was one spot where the discoloration had penetrated and tech was unable to get it completely out but it is not noticeable and will be covered by the new glass shower enclosure.  The job took about 5 hours that included a 2nd trip.  Had to let the epoxy fill dry over two of the screw holes and then came back to sand and finish.  The screw holes completely disappeared. The only drawback is the smell which lasts for approximately 4-5 hrs.  Running a fan with the windows open kept the odor down.
Bath was in use again in 24 hours.  Clean up was excellent.  I would recommend surface specialists.

Even if Thomas Ditter, the owner, knew I was upset (our contact person said they talked lengthily about my complaint) he never called me that day. Instead I received a call from Courtney from his company the next day, asking for payment. I told her I want the owner to call me because I am going to give them a bad review about how all this went. At last the Mr. Ditter called me and said I was going to receive a letter from his attorney for threatening his staff with a bad review ????? I told him that this was a great response to upset customers!!! I told him to go ahead bec all I will say is the truth about how badly I was treated and how he appeases me with a threat to call his lawyers! He was very rude, unapologetic and a bully. He never offered to give me a discount for such unsatisfactory work. I had to insist that I will only pay for what is fair and that I just want them out of my life. We agreed on $300. Please stay away from this company!!! An absolute nightmare! Only Courtney was apologetic and nice.
The day after I made this review, Mr. Ditter called and apologized. He offered not to charge me for the work.

I would not use this company again, and certainly would not recommend them.  The person giving the estimates is not the person that actually does the work, the workers did not show up on time, did not complete the project on time, and did not complete the project properly on the first attempt.  The company did not respond to problems in a timely manner, and although the did eventually fix the issues they did not fix other problems created in the house by the first attempt and left an incredible mess throughout the area they worked in.  The final result, while structurally sound, is still poor as the area around the drain is not round but an irregular poorly cut out shape.

I got lower estimates by other companies where the person doing the work was the actual contact and wish I had gone with one of them.  I cannot explain the extent of how frustrating and unprofessional an experience we had with this company, not to mention the extensive clean up and damages we experienced from their first attempt at the repair.

Absolutely top notch. I couldn't be happier. The company's estimator, Tom, was very knowledgeable and was very helpful, not only explaining what Surface Specialists could do, but also explaining what other work needed to be done. He put me in touch with a guy who does tile work (Steve Ragusa of Prime Time Handyman Service), and also answered some questions I had about the vanity counter in the bathroom. Once I had the tile work done, I scheduled the shower pan work (in each case, people arrived when scheduled, and were completely competent, helpful, and professional in every way). The actual work took just a couple of hours. The surface was cleaned, then the resurfacing material was applied. Eli, who did the resurfacing, was helpful, explaining what he did and how I should care for the newly resurfaced shower pan. He also left a helpful sheet that offered more explanation and tips, including brand name cleaners to use. The finished shower is just wonderful. It's hard to believe that it could look like this! For a very reasonable price, it's like I have a new shower (which, given how this shower is built in to the wall and adjoining tub, would have been prohibitively expensive). Eli's attention to detail was excellent; there are lots of corners and edges in a shower and that means there are lots of chances for sloppiness. But this job was done to the highest quality standards. If you have shower pan issues, you really can get it fixed at a reasonable price.

The shower pan was cracked & we didn't want to replace the shower due to the cost. The gentleman from Surface Specialists came out first to give us an estimate - no charge for the estimate. We were acceptable with the description of the service he provided to "cover up" the old pan and repair. My husband was knowledge about the product they were using. The serviceman arrived on time on the day we set up for the work. We were advised about the "smell" of the chemical because my husband has asthma but they bring along their own fan to help circulation. This was a concern to us. However, when the job was completed, there was no odor or aroma left at all. We were pleased. The serviceman went to work immediately upon arrival and the job was completed in a timely manner. Upon inspection we were shocked and astonished - the shower pan looked like a brand new pan purchased from an up-scale store. It was fantastic. We were outragiously pleased with the work and the product. It has been five months since the work was completed and we have had no problem. We are so happy with the product and the work done by Surface Specialists. They were very thoughtful and kind and provided a professional product. We were so thankful we didn't have to spend thousands of dollars to remodel our bathroom just to replace the shower pan. Thanks you Surface Specialists!!!

Surface Specialists did a good job of fixing my step. The problem that I had with them was they wanted to argue about whose fault it was that the step cracked. Like I said, they did a good job but I didn't appreciate them telling me that it was my fault that the step cracked in the first place. The cost of this was covered under my home warranty.
