I am writing to you today to tell you a story. A true story.
A love story. Between me and the Findlay Auto Group. Yes, you read that right.
It started in 2009 when I bought a used 2006 Audi A4 from Henderson Chevy. I
had just moved to Las Vegas and had never heard of Findlay. The car had 22,000
miles on it and I went to 'the' Audi dealer next to Henderson Chevy and bought
the manufacturer's extended warranty. Even though I hadn't bought the car
there, your Audi employees were wonderful! They were so warm and professional;
so much so that when it came time to buy another car, I knew I'd buy from a
Findlay dealership.
A year later I wanted an additional car. I'd had many
Cadillacs so naturally I went to your Cadillac Saab dealership. There I met Deb
Topham. I wound up buying a new 2010 Saab convertible and took out a loan via your
dealership to pay for it. As we both now know, buying a Saab was a mistake.
During the first year and a half that the company was still in business and my
Saab extended warranty was still in effect, I had numerous air conditioner
breakdowns. All were covered by that warranty. Then Saab went under and my
warranty wasn't worth anything. Until March 15, 2013, I paid for that Saab's
numerous repairs out of my own pocket.
During that time, I wrote a letter to the general manager of
the Cadillac Saab dealership explaining that I felt I shouldn't have to bear
the burden of the cost of repairs all by myself. He assigned my case to the
finance manager and many of repairs were done at your cost. Not many dealers
would do that. I was very grateful. Both Deb Topham, the GM and the finance
manager were very nice and they all went out of their way to help me.
When I finally had enough of the Saab's poor quality and
wanted out, I called Deb and asked her if she could find me a new Subaru BRZ.
She directed me to Subaru of Las Vegas. I bought a new 2013 BRZ for cash. What
happened to the balance of the loan on my Saab? On March 15, 2013, I still owed
approx $22,000. Findlay paid off my loan. The GM of the Saab dealership did
this for me. WOW! Really? That was so amazing. All I had to do was pay for the
BRZ and all was well in my world. And it was. And you had a VERY LOYAL
CUSTOMER.
If this was the end of the story I could say thanks and
promise to buy all of the rest of my cars from Findlay. Don't worry. I will.
BUT, this is far from the end of the story. I want you to know what an amazing
group of employees you really have. And what horrible luck I have with cars.
Four days short of eighteen months with my 2013 BRZ the
check engine light came on. The transmission had sporadically clunked and
lurched when shifting from second down into first gear. I let the service tech
know about it when I brought it in. A few hours later I got the car back; no
one could duplicate the transmission bucking and clunking. So I went home. The
next morning, the check engine light came on again and transmission had the
same problems. I bought my boyfriend with me and I asked him to go on a test
ride with the service Director, Ken Mnatsakanyan. They both experienced the
transmission problem in the first quarter mile. Ken gave me a loaner and kept
my car for twenty two days.
I picked it up late on a Saturday afternoon and parked it
the Flamingo. I would leave it there till Wednesday-I had a three day
tournament and never left the casino until it was time to go home. On the way
home, the car was better than ever! Fast! Peppy! No problems!
On Thursday when I started it, the check engine light came
on and the transmission bucked and clunked. Off it went, again. I gave it to
Ken on October 29 for the second time. On November 4, 2014, I was getting tired
of waiting for the part on back order and tired of Subaru receiving defective
parts. I asked Ken what I had to do to get a different car. He said he'd ask
Bill Hendrickson if that would be possible.
Ken must have been very persuasive. On Wednesday, November
12, 2014, I took delivery of a 2015 Subaru BRZ at no cost. I can't tell you how
appreciative I am for the work Ken did on my behalf. His commitment to customer
satisfaction is beyond anything I ever thought anyone would do for me.
These days all anyone ever seems to do is complain about big
corporations. I know Findlay is a family company and is also a big corporation.
If more people shared their feel good stories with others and with the companies
that did the right thing and went above and beyond for their customers, there
wouldn't be such an air of distrust between consumers and corporate America.
I want to tell you I love Findlay Auto Group and you have a
customer for life!
I am an Angie's List member. I nominated your Saab
dealership a long time ago for their Page of Happiness for helping me with the
off warranty repairs; I'm going to share this story with them now, too! You
should be proud to be a member of the Findlay Auto Group! I'm proud to be one
of your customers!
Most sincerely,
Jane Goldberg
