I requested an estimate to replace my 75-gallon water heater from several plumbing contractors. Shawn at Sound Plumbing promptly provided a detailed bid that met my specifications. Some of the other plumbing contractors did not provide a bid despite my email and phone followups. While Sound Plumbing's bid was slightly higher than another company, I decided to use them because of their reviews here (& other sites) and Shawn's promptness in providing a bid. I am glad I did. Shawn was able to get the installation scheduled to meet my needs. Atena the installer was prompt, efficient, courteous, and competent. He quickly removed the old water heater and installed the new one in a few hours. He had to go to the supply store to get a few extra parts, but got the job done within the scheduled time frame. I offered to pay for the extra parts, but Shawn said that wasn't necessary and I was only charged the price he quoted. When the installation was done, Atena explained the controls on the new water heater as well as the annual maintenance (i.e., flushing/draining) that should be done since Las Vegas has very "hard" water. He also suggested replacing the anode rod after 2 years which would extend the life of the water heater, I will use Sound Plumbing again when the need arises and would highly recommend them for any plumbing services.

My gas water heater, purchased from a local Lowe’s on 11/02/20111 with an extended parts & labor warranty, stopped working on 06/30/2016. The pilot light was out and could not be reignited despite numerous attempts at troubleshooting. Sound Plumbing was the company that Lowe’s sent to repair my water heater and I am most happy that they did. It turns out that the entire Honeywell control valve (white plastic box with flashing light and pilot light/temperature controls) was defective and had to be replaced at no cost under warranty. The best part of this service experience was the plumber/service technician who came out to do the work. Bill Abella is one knowledgeable plumber (been gathering experience in the field since age 12!) who insists on taking his time, keeping the work area clean, explaining everything to the customer and going above and what is necessary to ensure that the job is done properly and guarantee customer satisfaction. Rumor has it that some Sound Plumbing customers not only specifically ask for him by name, but insist on knowing his phone number for direct-dial access. He’s also extremely interesting/enjoyable to have around, a real nice guy and a good conversationalist. Bill Abella is someone you’d be interested in knowing privately, outside of the actual service encounter. After I also decided to replace the existing tank anode (extreme deterioration readily visible) and install a ball valve for easier future tank draining/flushing in my approximately 4.5 year old water heater (cost of $225.00), Bill ensured that everything was in tip-top working order and also flushed all the air out of the hot water outlets in my house before leaving. This was by far my best service experience with a plumber bar none; I had never heard of this particular plumbing company before and now I will most likely be using them for all of future plumbing needs! Perhaps, you too should consider using this company’s services the next time the need arises?

My water heater went out in June 2013 after ten years. I walked out to a flooded garage and called a friend who referred me to Sound Plumbing. The technician came and replaced my water heater with a new unit on the same day for around $850.

14 months later I walk out to a flooded garage again and call this company back. They let me know that the water heater isn’t fully under warranty any longer and would be $450 warranty replacement. I pushed back a little with how soon this unit went out but not having another affordable option I agreed to have them replace it. The technician who came out the second time, Mike, mentioned he did quite a bit of work to bring the water heater ‘up to code’, which he mentioned should prevent this from happening again. I can see he did quite a bit of work looking at the before and after pictures, including an expansion tank, flood pan, and thicker piping.

I understand stuff happens but I have to assume bringing the work up to code in the first place would’ve prevented this all along. Had I done this over again, I would’ve purchased my water heater through a local company with more reputable reviews.  I give this business a bad rating instead of a lousy only because the second technician did a lot of additional work and was very friendly.
