SKIP'S SPRING SVC

DO NOT take your vehicle to Skips Spring
Services! They did an outsourced alignment for Carl's Cool Cars when steering
equipment needed replaced and would never hold.
Carl's Cool Cars had outsourced a rebuild of my 98 Pathfinder's rack-and-pinion
steering box and once everything was reassembled the steering wheel wouldn't
center and the vehicle didn't handle well. Carl felt the vehicle just needed an
alignment so I attempted to get that taken care of. However, the alignment shop
I visited mentioned that bad rack bushings were preventing the steering wheel
from centering. They also would not guarantee their alignment work.
I took my vehicle back to Carl's and he said he would check it out again. I'm
not sure if he didn't agree that the bushings needed replaced or didn't want to
do the work. Basically his idea of "check it out again" was taking my
vehicle to Skip's Spring Services for an alignment. Because his shop didn't
have alignment equipment, he needed to use Skip's alignment system.
However, the rack bushings were bad so the alignment from Skip's was worthless.
The steering wheel still wouldn't hold a center position and my vehicle didn't
handle any differently after the alignment and I was out $45.00.
The Bottom line here is Skip's Spring Services obviously can't recognize parts
that need replaced, yet they are happy to take your money for alignment work
that won't hold up and may eventually create premature wear and tear on your vehicle.
And as you might have guessed, I went to another shop to deal with replacement
of the rack bushings and an alignment that will hold. After a couple month
ordeal, three car rentals while work was being done, and working with a
reputable alignment shop (A Arrow) my Pathfinder handles like it did for the
first 180,000+ miles.
My advice...  skip on past Skips Spring Services!
