"Thank you for the great review. Feel free to refer us to you friends. Thanks again, Ruiter Construction."
"We sincerely appreciate the positive review. Thank you. Ruiter Construction."
I just wanted these guys out of our home and out of our lives. When we first met, Chuck Ruiter asked me, "Do you work in the construction business?". Now I know why he asked me that. Ruiter Construction was hired as a "Contractor", yet they did most of the work themselves. I learned later that this is a serious violation of construction industry protocol. We had a new garage floor poured at the recommendation of an "inspector". The workmanship was pathetic. If I get water on the floor it pools into low spots instead of running to the center of the garage and out under the garage door like it looks like it's supposed to. It was just an all around a horrible experience. We were naive first-time home owners and I feel like we were taken advantage of by both Ruiter Construction and the inspector, in cahoots. I do NOT recommend Ruiter Construction for any type of construction or contracting work.
"[member name removed] We had to go extremely far back in our records to locate the records of the work done at your property located at [member address removed,] since work was completed in 2004. We are not sure why you felt waiting over 9 years to post a negative review about our company was helpful to others, but since you did, we feel it necessary to defend our work and our company. As we recall, your home repairs were paid for via a 203K loan, which is a HUD governed and regulated loan product that requires inspections from an inspector for the lender, a county inspector to verify permitted work, a situation very difficult for anyone to be “in cahoots.” Additionally there are several forms that are turned into escrow, the most important of these forms is a document called a “Mortgagor’s Letter of Completion, “ a document stating, “the rehabilitation construction and/or improvements, as outlined in the Rehabilitation Loan Agreement have been completed in a workmanlike manner to my/our satisfaction.” Since this is a HUD controlled process, any problems or unsatisfactory work should have been addressed at that time. HUD and the Lender would not allow for poor workmanship or unsatisfactory work. Unfortunately, since your work was completed over 9 years ago, we no longer have your file, we are only required to keep records for 7 years. If we still had your file, we would possess a copy of the Mortgagor’s Letter of Completion that you signed. Do you still have this document stating your satisfaction? You also stated in your review that “Ruiter Construction was hired as a Contractor, yet they did most of the work themselves,” and “this is a serious violation.” For your information, according to NRS 624.215, a General Contractor can self-perform a construction job containing more than two trades. Again, we apologize if you feel you were wronged in any way but Ruiter Construction stands by our employees and our workmanship. If there is something you feel we can do after 9 years to make you feel better, please call us directly at (702) 252-4069. Sincerely, Ruiter Construction, LLC."
