How does a company like this stay in business?
I signed contract on 9-11-13 and two weeks later emailed salesperson Ron on install. No response so I called Costco. Costco got me a response from Ron telling me its a 4-6 delivery time but he would check in on it. Got a phone call from Ron saying doors came in early and he could install on 10-11-2013. Agreed to install date. Crews arrived timely and completed the job in 3 hours.
I emailed Ron about cash card program and got not response so I contacted Costco and alerted Ron that I did. Then comes an email response..."not my job and the person at Amarr who handles it has died." With this, I started to look very closely at the work. I picked up loose hardware (screws, washers, etc) inside my garage as well as in the cracks of the concrete drive, on both sides of the drive and in the gutters. I later found loose bolts never tighten on the doors themselves and started to wonder if the doors where secure. Upselling, shoddy work, poor communications....all not expected from Costco and Amarr. I do not think Pioneer Door is doing either company justice. Complaints filed with Costco, Amarr, NV Contractors Board, BBB and notice posted here.
Of course every job can have different results but this experience led me to tell Amarr to assign a different authorized dealer to my address for any/all future warranty claims. I will not allow Pioneer Overhead Door back on my property.
Due to Homeowner Association's requirement that door trim substantially match existing doors even though the manufactuer that supplied all of the doors in the subdivision went out of business, the doors had to be special-ordered. They arrived within the time-period estimated by this vendor.
The installer was courteous, arrived on schedule, and completed the work well within the estimated time frame. We are very pleased with the quality of the doors and the garage-door opener. The belt-drive opener is the quietest we have ever experienced by a considerable margin and the street noise has been substantially reduced by the insulated doors.
One problem: the installer left a mess. This included numerous scraps of materials, gravel created from the installation, and most importantly, numerous wires, nuts, and sharp, self-tapping screws. They were both in the garage itself, on the driveway, and in the gutter. We know from a previous installation in our last house that these screws can easily punture car tires, so I carefully picked up all of the items before they did any damage to my property or my neighbors'. Still, I expect contractors to clean up after themselves.
I called the vendor to report the problem but had not heard back from him as of the time I filed this report.
"The customer's new Amarr Garage Doors Stratford3000 series16x7 and 8x7 insulated doors were furnished and installed on a same day call for $1545 on April 28 2011 and were paid on a COD basis by check. The 3000 series doors are metal front and back. The brackets in question are screwed to the inside of the door to allow the garage door opener to be attached to the door. Pioneer supplied a new bracket at no charge on the double door and reused the bracket from the old door on the single door. Some time after the install and after the work was accepted and paid for the customer decided that he wanted the two brackets on the inside of the doors to "match" to make the inside of his garage doors more pleasing to his eye. Pioneer offered to replace the bracket on the small door with a one identical to the large door. the customer wanted the section replaced that the bracket is screwed to also as he was worried that a small hole or holes about 1/8 of an inch might show on the inside of the door. Pioneer offered to make sure any holes were filled with a screw. This too was unacceptable to the customer as he stated that he absolutely needed the inside of his two doors to be identical in appearance. He wanted Pioneer to agree to replace the top section of the new 8x7 door and provide a matching bracket on the inside face of the section for $100. Pioneer agreed and did after some time do said work for $100. I have spoken to him on dozens of occasions and have been complimented and thanked for my services during many those conversations. His doors have always been in fine working order and today they have the appearance on the inside that he was seeking. It's unfortunate that he seems to me upset with me , Ron, on a personal basis, a teachable moment for me perhaps. I always strive to earn a A rating from each and every customer I serve.
