Drain Pipe Installation
$350
An absolute scam. Plumber comes out to remove blockage in sewer line and says they did it but have to come back the next day with camera to make sure they got it for $350. Next day he comes back and all the sudden the world is ending if I do not immediately pay then $1300 for a Hydro-jetting of the sewer line or $4300 for a sewer replacement section. He now claims all they do when they snake the line is to poke a hole in the blockage to relieve the pressure and let the water drain out but do not actually try to remove it. For that I need to pay them the $1300. I ask for proof and he sends me photos of what his so called snake camera is seeing which doesn't show anything but a colored screen with no images of anything. Quite a scam of them to promise a great service and then demand more and not even fix the **** problem. It's like asking them to snake your tub and then them telling you that getting hair out of the pipe is $1300 extra. When you pay someone money to snake your pipes you expect them to get ride of the blockage not to say yeah it's blocked, let me poke a hole in it and then demand more money for extreme services.

$700

It was the worst experience I have ever had. They are the reason I joined Angie's List. They did not charge me anything because I did not end up going through them. The quote was about $700 to replace a water pressure regulator. The best part of the experience was that they were quick. The worst part is that they were super-unprofessional.     The gentleman who was the technician came out with a trainee. The trainee decided to talk about everything except the  problem that I called about. They were basically trying to upsell me.

We called the about 11 at night and the came out to root out the pipe, took about 3 hours, but they charge more for emergency calls, you think they would get there faster. The next day the sent a camera down and found faulty drain lines between 3 houses and the main connection to the mobile home park. They all joined in my back yard. Meanwhile sewage is floating in my back yard. They dug up my back yard and gave us an estimate after explaining what the problem was. The home owners association got involved. Next thing I know, our plumber is making a pitch to the HOA to do their work for a much cheaper price than they charged us. I would have stopped everything, but no one had drainage on my block so we were stuck with Mr, Rooter. He finished the job, finally after leaving the day laborer to almost pass out in the 100 degree weather in our back yard. No one brought him lunch or a drink. M y son brought his EZ Up to provide him shade and of course we fed and gave him cold drinks, but he got sick anyway. It was a lot to dig by hand. Then the plumber cut his finger and had to leave for a few hours. My husband called the supervisor to come out and do something so we could flush our toilets. The kid with the cut finger came back and finished. It took about 3 days to get it all done. Here is the kicker. The HOA had their plumber come out to fix their part after Mr. Rooter had said it was all fixed= remember, I paid over 4000.00 and the HOA paid 1800.00. Well Mr Rooters part leaked so the Plumbers that the HOA usually used came out to redo everything. The new plumbers had to dig everything back up again to see why it was leaking. It seems that the wrong pipe was used and the connections to my line leaked. I would not use this company and if I had had time to read the reviews first, I would never have called them.

A service man came promptly and proceeded to snake the drain through the kitchen clean-out, without success.  Then he attempted to reach the clog through the laundry clean-out.  He was having a difficult time with his snake, as it wasn't functioning quite properly, and felt he wasn't reaching the clog.  He called for his supervisor to come over to assist.  The supervisor came and presented himself as a know-it-all,  which immediately alerted me to the fact that he probably didn't  (know it all) , as was proven when both technicians left the premises before the job was completed. They said they were done, but they weren't.  How do I know they hadn't gotten the clog clear?  Water was still coming out the kitchen clean-out, and when I asked why that would be if the clog was clear he gave me a b.s. story that wasn't even logical.  His attitude was condescending, and he acted like I was an idiot for questioning the result.  He scoped the pipes with the camera from the outside clean-out, saw that there was standing water .  He told me that I needed my whole yard dug up and the main drain replaced, because (he said) that the drain was draining downhill toward the house rather than away from it.  He quoted me a price of (LOL) $13,400!!!   He said terrible things would happen if I didn't get the work he quoted me for done.  I said no, thanks, and  they left.   I wasn't confident that the drain was cleared, because as I said, water was still draining out the clean-out, and that shouldn't happen.  So,  on July 24 I see that once again my drain is completely stopped up again.  I called Mr. Rooter to see if they warranteed their work, as was told that  the work the boys did for me was not warranted because I didn't have them do the $13,400 job the cocky one said I needed.  So I called another plumber who came and snaked out the pipes properly, clearing the clogs, and even going through the vents on the roof to accomplish very clear pipes.  Water flows beautifully now.  I told the new plumber what the Mr. Rooter guy had said, and he told me that it was nonsense (as I suspected all along), and that he thought the kid was just trying to drum up business.  My advice?  NEVER  rely on Mr. Rooter for your plumbing---they don't know what they are doing, and they lie.   I had to pay twice for  a job that shouldn't have been that difficult, and wasn't difficult once I had a "real" plumber who knew how to plumb.

My first mistake was not reading the reviews on  Angie's List before calling  Mr.  Rooter Plumbing.
The first workman  used  a rooter machine (electric snake)  and said it was not working  (advertised price,  $79).
Another workman (a drain expert)  arrived and said it would cost $350 for a power wash.  While this was being performed,  a third workman ( a camera expert)  arrived and said he would perform a camera-drain.
The original problem was now solved.   However, the camera man who is also  the   'Operations Manager,"  Scott Hartwell,   stated there was a pipe problem in the middle of the house that needed to be repaired.  He wanted to jack-hammer through the foundation in the middle of the house and tear out part of a wall,  dig down and repair the pipe for a cost of $3,200.
When I questioned him further,  he couldn't give me a satisfactory reason why the underground pipe needed repairing,  only that he thought there was a problem with two pipes that weren't flush with each other.   The house is 18 years old and this is the first drainage problem,   so I declined his repair.
After reading other reports on this list,   there is a common thread with pipes needing  repair.

Called to have them install a Life Ionizer under my sink. Mr Rooter is supposed to be the official installer for Life Ionizers but the Office had no idea what that was when i called them. They were supposed to provide a 20% discount because of the association. The Technician was an 1.5 late and never called prior to arrival. When I showed him what was needed to be done he seemed to not be sure of himself or the work at hand  (to be fair this was my observation as no work was done). He left the house to provide me the free quote. The job should of taken all of an hour at tops as all he had to do was place a cold water T tap in for the water to be delivered to the Ionizer and the use the tubing and the quick connects. The last part was to enlarge the hole in the sink just a little bit to accommodate the Faucet. He came back with a quote of $261.00. When I asked him if that was with the 20% discount (he had no clue what I was referring to in regards to the Life Ionizer agreement with Mr Rooter) he quickly answered yes that included the discount. I told him it was too high, I thanked him for his time coming out. He was friendly and professional in the manner that he handled the refusal of the work and was politely on his way.

MC Plumbing showed up shortly after and completed the work professionally and at a much better price ($150.00).

They did nothing. I spent $360 on the job. They had an advertisement to root out any drain and any single sewer line for $79. I had backup in the back bathrooms. They came out and told me that since my house was 47 years old and since it had a cast iron sewer system, they could not run their cutting tool on the end of the snake down the drain. They told me that they could try pushing the snake down the drain and try dislodging it. They did that and it was worth $79. The amount of $360 included putting a camera down to inspect. They were able to get the camera to 2 feet and they insisted of me paying them the entire amount. They seemed predisposed to the fact that they were going to bill me a substantial amount. They gave me an estimate for $5400. They suggested various works that needed to be done. When they put the toilet back on, it was left leaking. I will not use them again in the future.

The job was to take 2 days, it took 6. On and off flushing capability. The company had equipment problems and needed a part from Arizona. it would take a week. Then a guy had to come from LA . The equipment kept breaking down... I was told by manager Scott Root that upon completion I had plumbing for life...If you have a stoppage and do not feel like plunging, call us he stated. Then 2 days after I paid $12,000 my plumbing backed up again...I called and was informed that no one could be over until the next day...they had left a rock in the line when it was re-connected...I was told by the plumber to cancel the call or I would be charged...so, much for life time plumbing or job or quality of work. In closing the mess of resin they left on my sidewalk and drive...they were to clean up and have not. I sent a letter and followed up with 2 e-mails...finnally recieved a response...no action yet. Yes, I can flush with confidence...but, I would not do businness with MR. Rooter!

We called Mr. Rooter to come and give an estimate for a broken pipe in our recently widowed mother-in-law's mobile home. Quick response person arrived the same evening. T connector pipe was cut off and cap placed on connector so water could be restored to mobile home. Mother-in-law was told that her entire mobile home pipe system had to be replaced at a cost of $13,000.00. My mother in law said her insurance would pay for only $11,000.00 and MR offered to do the replacement work for that price. This was clearly an attempt to con a widow into having unnecessary (at this time) work done and an attempt to take advantage of her in a frantic state. She signed a contract for a job to replace all pipes in the mobile home at a cost of $11,000.00. When we heard that she had signed a contract for that amount when only a small repair job needed to be done to restore water to mobile home we refused to allow MR to do any further work. On Monday June 14, 2010 when MR was told we were not going to go along with the contract, MR turned water off to home and removed their cap and left. Rotor Rooter was then called. RR gave a free estimate for the immediate plumbing problem, had work done for $162. RR gave a free estimate for bid for replacing all pipes in the future and would email the bid and decide without any pressure whether or not to accept the bid. We will NEVER trust Mr. Rooter again for any plumbing job.

I was not pleased with them at all because after they came back for two days of working on the toilets they finally cleared them out. A few days after that they were stopped up again and they said that the whole plumbing system in the house had to be replaced. Needless to say they were wrong. They are not very dependable at all.

I will not use this company again. I should have known there would be a problem when I called them to get an estimate and they would not give me one over the phone. Their rates are ridiculous and way higher than other companies would charge. This company does not do bad work, but their prices are pitiful.

We were very upset with this company. They added the epoxy to the pipes and after it hardened it cracked and the chemical was leaking all over. There was water that leaked everywhere as well. This epoxy is a hard coating that is pumped inside of the pipes to form a seal and I think it is a great product but this companies technicians did a terrible job.

Mr. Rooter was very prompt at getting their job done. We had someone else look at the leak and they gave me a price for thousands of dollars. Mister Rooter came out and gave me an estimate that was way lower. They had fixed the problem in just one day. All their employees were in uniform and very nice and very helpful. They cleaned my yard very well before they left.

Mr. Rooter did not finish the job that we had hired them to do as they were supposed to replace everything that they took out, but they did not replace the linoleum floor. I felt that they only did as much work as they needed to get their money. I was very upset at the mess they made and I felt like they took advantage of me.
