this year, so I decided to call them. They came out the same day and gave me the estimate, witch I
accepted. The next morning the Tech. came with all the parts and equipment. The job was done in
a timely fashion and Mr. Thomas was cordial and efficient.
4/22/2011 (Fri) - Work commenced at 9:00ish. 2 plumbers. I contacted another plumber used previously to find out how much he would charge to repipe 1500sq ft home with 2 bathrooms and laundryroom. His estimate was $6000-6500 and 2-4 days but he wouldn't be able to start until Monday. Contacted Mr. Rooter to ask how much was owed to stop the work now so another contractor could take over. Was told the job was "halfway through" and to stop now and pay Mr. Rooter for work done and the new contractor $6000-6500 would end up costing way more than the $8300 estimate. Decided to let Mr. Rooter complete the job. Hot water was promised to be on and useable that day.
4/23/2011 (Sat) - Work commenced at 9:00ish. 2 plumbers. Still no hot water. Ron went with me to purchase a new water heater and installed it for free. After plumbers left around 10pm - upon trying to shower,a leak developed in the hall bathroom so water was turned off again.
4/24/2011 (Sun) - 2 plumbers and supervisor worked from 9-2pm ish. Still no hot-water. When trying to shower, another leak developed in laundryroom and water had to be turned off again.
4/25/2011 (Mon) - 1 plumber. Insurance adjuster conducted an inspection of work done so far.
4/26/2011 (Tues) - Building Inspector inspected plumbing and passed the work done. Dry-wall contractor arrived and estimated repairs to walls at $880.00
4/27/2011 (Wed) - Dry-wall contractor repaired walls. Cost: $880.00
4/28/2011 (Thurs) - Dry wall repairs continued. Called Mr. Rooter to have washer/dryer hooked up temporarily so laundry could be done.
4/29/2011 (Fri) - Another shower resulted in slow draining and both bathroom floors were flooded with clean water. Mr. Rooter came and hooked up washer/dryer temporarily and snaked sewer line at no charge and replaced a cracked washer hose for free because he had stepped through the laundry-room ceiling by accident.
5/11/2011 - Slow drain on shower again and clean water leak between bathrooms. Mr. Rooter stated it was not from the repipe job and snaked the sewer line from house to street for free.
6/4/2011 - Front yard faucet broke at plastic connector previously installed by Mr. Rooter. Mr. Rooter's fault as they did not install a plank to stabilize the faucet. Mr. Rooter repaired it for free, though the plumber did not think it was their fault.
6/8/2011 - Heard water running in wall of laundry-room. Thought it was the water-softener stuck on regeneration. Called soft-water company.
6/9/2011 - Soft-water company said the water running was not from softener unit but probably a broken irrigation line which runs under the driveway. Called Rakeman Plumbing for an estimate to find and repair leak. Asked this plumber about the work done by Mr. Rooter. His inspection revealed: that the laundry-room looked like the old pipe, connections, etc. were left in place rather than replaced with new stuff which he would have done had he repiped the whole house. He discovered a main-line and irrigation line leak under the driveway and estimated $2200 to repair them. The work was completed by Rakeman.
I filed a complaint with the FTC Ref # 31026567, YELP, LasVegasComplaints.com,Attorney General's office, and will file with Contractor's Board in the hope that they will inspect Mr. Rooter's work more closely.
Scott, Supervisor, contacted me and requested I remove the YELP complaint. I told him once I reviewed the cost-breakdown and was sure my parents were charged appropriately, I would consider removing the complaint. John the Owner also contacted me to see if I received the documents I requested. To date (8/3/2011) I have received nothing. I am pursuing a contractor's board complaint.
