The wrong stone was installed twice. Two of the plants died. Two more plants that were placed in pet areas were toxic to my pets and we had to remove those ourselves as Modern Landscapers wouldn't respond to our contact. The bubblers they installed seem to be working fine as well as the landscape lighting. I had to buy trellises for my vines as they never supplied them.

Do not hire these people. They do not stand by their product. The lighting work has turned out to be good, but the Bermuda grass that was replaced by fescue sod has all returned again, and this company refuses to do anything about it. The owner's son Brandon "killed" the Bermuda grass and admitted it was the first time he had done that task. He obviously did not kill it, because it has returned. When I called the owner to tell him about the problem, he said that the work is not guaranteed and they "did everything by the book." He did not offer to be of assistance in any way and basically said, "Tough." Another landscape expert told me how the Bermuda should have been killed, indicating that if Modern Landscape "did everything by the book," they need to read another book. Although the work was not guaranteed, one can nevertheless expect the company to stand by their work and offer some kind of solution - or at least an apology. I will not use these people again, even for any additional lighting work. After spending $16,400.00 on landscape work, we deserved to be treated better when their work turned out to be shoddy.

We absolutely loved working with Tom of Modern Landscape to design and build our landscape for our small backyard last fall!  We went into our first meeting with him thinking we knew what we wanted.  Right away he gave us some ideas for our small backyard space that situated our seating area in a way that gave us more open sky views and limited our views of closely neighboring homes.  We did our due diligence and interviewed 4 other landscapers, but after every meeting we knew we'd be using Tom.  He was simply the most professional, took our ideas and concerns seriously, and was the best value for our design.  He was great about following up on all our questions about plants and designs, and worked with us quite a bit to get the most out of our budget. After we decided to just stick with simple concrete to meet our budget, he took the time to add some small but striking design elements to the concrete to give it a better look.  All his staff were exceptionally professional while they were here and left our yard and street immaculate.  Tom and his staff involved me as the plants went in to make sure everything was laid out in a way I liked...and were incredibly polite and accommodating when I asked them to switch two very large plants/palms after i looked at them in the ground for a day.  What has really stood out to me as well has been Tom's response back to me when I had a concern about the growth of our palm.  He stopped by, checked every plant's health, and gave me more tips on how to care for the yard and even great hints on potted plants for the patio. Further, when one of our plants didn't revive after the winter, he was quick to replace it!  I'd hire Modern Landscape again in a heartbeat and have recommended Tom to every one of my neighbors!
