It could not have gone better!!! I purchased granite for my kitchen counter-tops from Modern Building Granite Supply. They were quickly and professionally installed. The granite looks beautiful and the new 9 inch deep stainless steel sink in my kitchen looks amazing. My neighbor got the same thing (different granite!) and she loves her kitchen, too! Highly recommend this company for your kitchen upgrade!

Wanted to replace outdated laminate countertop with granite. Saw advertisement in RJ, looked on Angie's list. Had a C review, but wanted to get an estimate from them. Called on the 26th and she arrived on the 27th.Showed me samples of what I could get, took some measurements and made some great suggestions. I picked one with her input and told her about the review on Angie's list about glue and baseboard. They were supposed to come and install on the 8th of January, but slab did not arrive in time so they came on the 9th. 2 workers arrived with the slab mostly cut and they installed it. Baseboard looked sturdy and glue was same as Home Depot uses. There was no dust at all and fit perfectly. They even had some great suggestions and made it a much more modern design. They were pleasant and professional. They worked the entire time and were done in about 4 hours. It looks beautiful and as of now, I see no problems. Will call them again when I need other granite work.

I went with them because their price was very cheap and while the granite countertops and sinks are fine they used OSB for underlayment (which swells and delaminates if it gets wet) and used poor quality glues and caulking. The glue didn't hold the countertop down when a seam popped and for a few months (until I had another company fix it) I had a 1/8" difference in height between my main two pieces of countertop.
The caulk they used on the kitchen sinks wasn't a good quality silicone so it mildewed up in no time and I had to scrape it out and recaulk with the good stuff.
Also they didn't clean up well after themselves and left a lot of granite dust for me to get rid of. And when the light hits the seams they look very dull compared to the high polish on the rest of the countertops. That is because they didn't do a good job of polishing the seams during the installation.
To recap, the positives are that they were cheap, responsive and punctual. Everything except the left over dust looked great when they first finished the job but it didn't take long for their poor quality glue and caulking to cause me problems.
All things considered I would not use them again. I'd go with a more expensive company that does better quality work.

We really thought that we had picked a gem from Angies. Never had I experienced anything but A work. Started out promising as they arrived a day early, a Sunday, to do demo and lay the granite. We rushed home from Disneyland to accommodate their wishes. That was the best day of all. We saw a different crew do the demo, and they were clean. But I found it strange that they left the floor backer board. The granite piece turned out beautiful. The next day they didn't show because of other commitments. Then the following day Willie, tile man, showed up but was alone and needed tile to fit around the window and a partner. Mei, the owner, went to purchase bullnose wall pieces and four corner pieces that weren't appropriate for tiling windows. (She ended up charging us for them, though she didn't know what she was ordering.) So on the 10th the tiling began. These guys couldn't have known much about the art of tiling. They had no idea how to tile around a window. The shower seemed to be going along well although it still appears to us and pros that the two shelving units are not straight. After completing the shower it was time to do the mosaic border. But because of their demo they tore out layers of sheetrock so there wasn't a smooth surface. I had to hire someone else the next day to re-texturize the wall. That was an extra $200. When I realized that they were going to lay the tile over the existing uneven backer board on the floor I demanded that they rip it out and start fresh. On the 11th they tore up the floor and start to lay the tile. This took such a long time. Anyway, they also completed the mosaic around the shower. It wasn't until after they left late in the evening, and my wife came home, that we truly surveyed the workmanship. We found such a disaster of a job performed. Crooked, uneven, smashed pieces... We were beside ourselves. Also they left large amounts of thin-set between the mosaic pieces. On the 12th Willie the subcontractor told us that his work was appropriate. We also showed Mei the issues. We asked them to leave the sight so we could find someone that could do the job right. On the 13th we had four other Angies' contractors come and tell us what a poor job was done. My wife decided to give Modern another chance because she was afraid we'd have a lien put on our home. I didn't agree with her. Anyway, Mei's husband re-did the mosaic and grouted the tile. Obviously from the pics he did a better job of laying the mosaic. But he can't grout nor does he have an eye for quality if you see the pics. My characters are running low. But these guys will really take advantage of you if you let them. They cut corners any where they can. My wife was told porcelain but we got ceramic. The undermount sinks were jimmied in by only pieces of wood without any hardware. There's other issues. Too many to get into detail. A three-day job turned into one week.

It went fine. I did have to have them back to complete a blemish that was on the stone, and there was not a problem, they fixed it to my satisfaction.
