On this visit, they extracted one very damaged & broken tooth, and overall it went well. We initially discussed me coming back in to have all my upper teeth removed and a denture created, as medication has destroyed my teeth. However, the cost was quite high, so I said I needed to wait.
Since then, I was referred to another dentist that strictly does dentures, so I went in to Dr Mike and got copies of my x-rays, I explained what I was doing, but that I still wanted Dr Mike to handle my general dentistry work, including the work that will need to be done on my lower teeth in the near future. They seemed pleased that I wanted to stay with them. However, I found out that I couldn't have my upper teeth extracted at the place where I bought my denture, so I called Dr Mike's office, asking if they could do my extractions even though I was purchasing my denture elsewhere. I had found other dentists more than willing to do this, but since I felt comfortable with Dr Mike, I preferred going back to him. However, this request was met with sarcasm and a flat out rejection, I was told they must do it "all or nothing", meaning they would extract my teeth but only if they made the denture too... I explained I had already pre-paid for my denture, that it was already being made, that I just needed the extractions... they said "sorry, we can't help you, we won't do your extractions if someone else makes the denture. The sarcasm turned to flat out rudeness, and they seemed insulted that I would even ask... sorry to offer you SOME of the work and SOME of the profits, not to mention all my future work. After that call and their shocking response, I won't set foot in their office ever again. I found someone else more than willing to work with me, too bad this office couldn't be bothered. The won't be getting work from me again, they showed no concern or sincerity, and certainly no desire to keep me as a patient. So I did have one good visit but that was highly overshadowed by very bad treatment and attitude when I needed help and offered them much more work & money!!
This first experience listed above took place aboout three years ago. My current experience with Just Smiles (July of 2011) was just as wonderful as going to the dentist can be. I am proud to say that I have graduated college since then and I am a public school teacher with decent benefits. Even though I can almost go anywhere with my top-grade insurance, I am very loyal to Just Smiles because of their impeccable work ethics and genuine concern for their patients. They truly helped me out in a time of need, and now that I have great insurance, they will definitely receive my business again and again. I live in the green valley area, but I will always make the drive to their location!
I currently went into Just Smiles for a routine check up and unfortunately, I had more fillings. I was so scared as I normally am going to the dentist just knowing I will get a shot and drilling will happen. Again, Dr. Mike said he would use sleepy dentistry and gave me an appropriate prescription. I was still scared on the day of my appointment. They were very compassionate and allowed my fiance to go back with me and hold my hand. The office manager, Evon, comforted me and gave me her personal ipod with ear phones to listen to to drown out the drilling sound. The assistant, Dave, kept making me laugh and even got me a blanket because he saw that I was cold. It does sound like I was being a big baby, and I probably was. However, I cannot help the anxiety I get when going to the dentist. Dr. Mike and his staff are the first group of dentistry people that have truly made me feel comfortable and at ease. Some dentists in the past have told me that I am too old to be scared. Dr. Mike and his staff would never make me feel this way.
As if Just Smiles hasn't done enough for me, Dr. Mike donated many toothbrushes and other dental products to my class for my special needs students. I also found out that he performs dental work on all people of all ages including students with disabilities.
I have referred many people to Just Smiles and will continue to do so. They are an awesome group of people who perform professional quality work! :)
