The guy came out, checked out heating system. Came back down quickly (about 5-10 minutes) and said there was a clearly cracked heat exchanger. He said this was a very, very common problem, and that I would need to get a new heating and a/c system. He said that my Goodman system just doesn't make/sell them anymore, and gave me estimates of $5500-$6500 for him to put in a new unit. He pushed to put it in the next day. He sounded all casual like it was no big deal to come up with that much cash on short notice. It was pretty cold, so I was panicked, but I told him I had to figure it out.
I called all around to get a second opinion, and in doing so found out, not only were Goodman systems available, my part was available and STILL UNDER WARRANTY!! I couldn't believe how dishonest this guy was!! Even if he had believed what he was saying, he could have checked out the information on the unit, and found out all of what I found out. Very upset and disappointed. I left a message for him but I never heard back.

Check over my system. Discussed replacement of units. Provided a good price. Still deciding if I want to replace. First time I ever had a service person come exactly when he said he would be there. Very personable and knowledgeable.

Actually answered the phone in a timely manner. Scheduled a same day repair.

Mister Manring answered the call and came and fixed problem.

He quickly diagnosed the problem and repaired a defective flame sensor. He did not try to sell me a new sensor as he was able to repair the existing one on the spot.

I am always thankful for honest service and repair.

He scheduled same day repair and kept us from spending a cold night in our home.

I would highly recommend him and will use his company in the future.

Robert was incredibly responsive. He came over the day I called during a 110+ degree day, evaluated the problem and provided an estimate to repair. He did not try to up-sell nor exaggerate the problem - simply diagnosed a repair that he believed would be entirely effective for 3-4 years. He came back the next day and made the repair. It has worked perfectly since the repair.

My A/C was running constantly and not cooling enough to keep the house cool during the 115 degree afternoons. I had a similar problem in the past and was convinced that my unit was low on Freon. In the middle of summer, it is almost impossible to get an AC repairman in less than a week. I called Manring Air and Robert Manring answered. He was in the middle of a repair but asked me to email him my information and he would call. That was on Wed. evening, July 3rd.

Several hours later, Robert sent me an email confirming he had read my email. In it, I told him that this wasn't an emergency, our AC was working well enough to get by. Even so, he called and came by early Friday added Freon (at my request) and went on to finish his 16 hour day. I really appreciated him taking the time to make an extra stop.

However, that didn't completely fix the problem. It helped, but it didn't fix it. So I called Robert on Monday morning and he came by after his scheduled workday on Monday evening. He found and fixed the problem and my AC is working like new.

Robert made two trips to my house, spent over 4 hours on the roof, added 3 + lbs of R-22 (which, thanks to the EPA, is more expensive than gold!) AND he did this 'in between' his already overloaded scheduled appointments.

Not only is he a good technician, he genuinely cares about his customers. I highly recommend him!

Called Manring Air on Monday to inquire about getting a new HVAC system for the upstairs, chatted with the man on the phone and said the owner Robert would be out Tuesday to quote. Robert came out, looked over the old system, gave me a price quote which was extremely fair and said they could do the work Thursday. Agreed and he asked for nothing up front. Got a call later than evening and asked if he could install on Wednesday...I said that would be fine. Guys showed up around 8am to begin. His crew were extremely polite and respectful of our house. Job took all day, but that was to be expected. Once the air handler/heater was installed in our attic, Robert came back out and hooked everything up and fired the system up. Wonderful! This was not an emergency situation, so I was not expecting anything quickly and figured they would squeeze me in when they had time between the emergencies. Hats off to Robert and his crew. Thanks for a job well done.

I called Manring after seeing his special and the positive reviews on Angie's. Robert arrived early the next morning on time and immediately went to work on the units. He showed me the part that needed replacing and took care of the problem. He came across as a true professional and the type of person I would want for long term servicing. After he was done, I talked to him about a yearly plan. His price for the twice a year service seemed very reasonable, so I signed up. I have been a general contractor for over 28 years and I would highly recommend this company.

Third time we've hired Bob Manring and his company to perform A/C service for us (once a year, every June/July, since we bought). This time was the compressor...again. Unit was installed by Manring in 2010 after the existing compressor failed at appx. one year of age. We knew the new compressor was not the OEM 5-ton, but thought is was bigger (didn't know then that wasn't the case) and, because it was compatible, and we needed A/C fast, we pressed with the install. Unfortunately, it was actually a 4.5-ton., which we discovered when Bob triaged the unit. The unit did not last and began failing earlier this week. Called Bob who came out and assessed the unit. Right away he knew it was the compressor given the loud noise it was making. When I told him it had been making that noise since it was installed, and I had just chalked it up to the fact it was not the same OEM compressor, I could tell he was a bit upset.
His brother and son were out the next day with an OEM compressor and all new installation parts which were all covered under warranty. Because the system uses R22 the capture/charge process is rather expensive. However, because their installer had put in the wrong, smaller compressor initially, and it subsequently failed on us, they gave us a nice price break on the labor. The also provided instruction on how to perform simple, annual preventive maintenance on the unit and gave their recommendation on better A/C brands so that, in the future, we can be better informed when we purchase.
Bottom line, Bob and his company have done right by us every time, they're always punctual, professional, and fair in their pricing for services. I think that's obvious, otherwise we wouldn't keep calling them for service! What I can say for certain, however, is that Lenox makes the absolute worst A/C units on the market, so if you're considering purchasing one be forewarned; the operating and maintenance cost on these units will run you a lot more than just saving your money and buying a high quality unit from the outset.

The AC started losing its cooling ability on Saturday. I finally bit the bullet and after checking Angie's List, I called Manring Monday morning at 8 am. Surprise #1: A person actually answered the phone. Surprise #2: It was Robert, the owner. Surprise #3: He said that since we lived nearby, he'd stop by before his first scheduled call of the day. Surprise #4: He arrived within one hour and had the air conditioner working by 10 am.
He and his wife were so nice and professional--very courteous, very efficient even though his phone was ringing constantly with other calls for help. This is the super-busy season in Las Vegas for AC repair and I was afraid I'd have to wait at least a day or two before anyone would come by; then I figured there might be another delay whilst parts were ordered, etc. Also, I expected to be on the phone pleading my case with ac repair people for the whole morning. Didn't happen. I am so very happy that I checked Angie's list and called Robert first and at just the right time.

Called Bob late Wednesday night and he came out Thursday afternoon to look everything over. He quickly confirmed our suspicions and ordered the OEM parts (covered under warranty) that day. Rather than just replace the fan, as other heating and air companies have done for my neighbors (to very mixed results), Bob opted to replace the entire assembly since it was covered by the OEM warranty and would prevent a recurrence of the problem in the near future. Bob shares my philosophy that if you're going to do a job, do it right the first time. It might cost more up front, but it will save you big time in the long run.

Bob was out today, Saturday, to replace the unit and had it out pretty quickly. Unfortunately, removal of the motor from the fan/assembly required a puller due to poor manufacturing processes during OEM assembly. Bob had to run downtown to pick up the tool, then come back, which took a couple of hours since we live a block away from the end of the earth. He didn't charge any extra for labor for the time spent in transit, nor did he pass on the cost of the tool, which I think most would try to do to make an extra dollar. That's just how this company does business; honor the original estimate, eat any extra/unexpected costs not directly related to job/customer. They did the same last year for me, too (see my previous review).
I can't say enough good about Bob, his company, and the people that work for him. These are all great folks with big hearts that are the model for what small business in America is all about. But what I can do is encourage anyone looking for a heating and AC repair company to call Manring the first time, every time. You'll be glad you did.

This is the second time I've used the services of Manring Air to replace Heating/AC units on homes. Robert Manring is very easy to establish a good rapore with. The rest on his crews were all very knowledgable, polite, and efficiant. The price included the required use of a high lift crane for the second story. They were all prompt and work was completed in less than 3 hours. 10 year warranty with units included (as long as proof of anual maintenance is kept up).

They didn't try to sell me a new heat pump. I decided to go with them because they were on Angie's List. It looked like they were a small operation. They were prompt, and they did their job. There was no clean-up involved. They did have an Angie's List discount, but I didn't ask about it until after the bill had been written up. They would have redone the bill, but we didn't bother.

Dealing with Manring AC. from the tenant's point of view. I am including the emails I received from my tenant regarding what her side of this was like. 11/15 they came out Friday and cleaned the coil and provide us with a couple of filters, then he took off and said that everything was good to go.  However, he did not turn on the unit and check the air flow coming out of the vent it is still COOL!!!  I called him and they are coming out tomorrow again at 10 a.m.  I will keep you posted. 11/16 The guys fixing it now said that they did not know that it was blowing cool air they only heard about the coil and the filters.  They were suppose to show up at 10 and did not call me until 10:30-45 so I had to reschedule with them for Friday.  He said he would get to the bottom of it and make sure Friday that both the cold and hot air work so we will see.  11/20 O.k. so yesterday 2p.m. rolls around no body has shown up so I call them.  The owner or whatever Robert tells me he will call Eric, that's who I spoke to, so he does and then calls me back and tells me Eric does not remember the conversation.  But when Robert looks it up it states everything I said and that the Appointment was for 2.  He said Eric was busy doing a restaurant job and he would try to make it to me if not on Monday.  So I guess we will see if they show up Monday.  I did not see or hear back from them yesterday.  The very first time when I scheduled with them to come out and look at it they did the same thing.  Did not show up, I called and he said the guy that scheduled it forgot to write in the appointment. 11/22 well they called me and showed up first thing this morning.  They said the compressor is bad it needs to be replaced. They are supposed to be calling you to let you know and give you quotes on the compressor cost. You make your own conclusion as to whether or not you wish to deal with this company. The owner is a very nice guy and easy to deal with. I think he may need some new workers though. Angies List needs to have an "uncertain" option. It may inspire an interested party to read the report to see how that indecision was reached. I chose the "will hire again" button but am unsure if I will or not. They know the unit now so that's in their favor. Hopefully I won't have to make that decision any time soon.

Businesses like Manring are the reason why I will gladly pass a big-box store and go local anytime I can. Our A/C went out on a Sunday afternoon with outside temperatures in the 105+ range. I searched "the list" for the closest repair shop to us and found Manring. We toughed it out that night, with temperatures inside hovering around 90, and first thing Monday morning I called for a service visit. After explaining my problem I was told to expect somebody that morning. Less than an hour later the technician was knocking on my door. He deduced the problem right away as a faulty compressor. Because the unit was less than five years old, the technician believed the manufacturer would honor the parts warranty on the unit. He told me there was a possibility the manufacturer's part might not be available right away. But, because I have a toddler in the house, he told me that if the manufacturer indicated they would delay the warranty claim process he would buy a compatible part "downtown" and pass the cost to the manufacturer. Early Tuesday morning the technician showed up at the house with a compatible part and had us up and going again in no time. He explained that the manufacturer had agreed to pay for the alternate compressor, but that it was $100 more than the manufacturer part. Then he told us that if the manufacturer did not cover the $100 difference the company would absorb the cost rather than pass it on to us. On top of that, they gladly honored the 10% Angie's List coupon I presented them. What could have been a $2K job ended up costing us less than half that because the folks at Manring were willing to go the extra mile to do right by us. What started as a very unfortunate incident ended on quite a nice note. I hope I don't have to see these folks again anytime soon, but if I must I'll be glad it's them :)

I was sure I had low coolant in my A/C, but the technician did the tests and determined I simply needed the condenser coils cleaned, which he did. I was impressed with his honesty in only performing the service needed when I would have been willing to pay more. The technician was professional, courteous and punctual. They provided same-day service which I thought wouldn't be possible in July. I would definitely recommend them.
