Description of Work: I contacted this company for a quote on a roof repair for my rental home. They responded and were very polite and explained their services to me. I did not use them simply because I was able to obtain the services of another Angie's List roofer who could the start the job immediately. Even though I did not use, I would recommend this company because of their promptness in responding to my inquiry and thorough explanation of their services.

Description of Work: Called for an estimate on repair of my tile roof. She gave me a service call price with a per man hour price over the phone. They would not come out for a free estimate on a tile roof.

I am sorry that you are unhappy that we do not give free estimates on tile roof repairs. Because an average of 15 tons of concrete are on top of a residential home, it is more cost effective for you as the customer to have us do it this way. In order to find a leak, it may take an hour to move 1,000 lbs of concrete (65.00 service call) and then put it back and then give you an estimate for free??? We would be out of business or have to over charge with a free estimate to cover the unknowns of what is going on under all that tile. Just like an air conditioning company or plumber, we spend money on fuel and labor to get to your home. This is where the service call comes in for any qualified tradesman. Our trucks are stocked with all of the materials necessary to repair the roof at the time of the service call in most cases. If we determine that the repair to the roof is excessive, we will at that time give you a free estimate for repair and only charge for the service call of $65.00 giving you an opportunity to shop around. That is as fair as we can be after 17 years in business under the same license and name. It is my experience that most roofers that give free estimates on tile repairs up "sell" and gouge the customer where we only charge for the actual work done On new roofs, we are happy to give free estimates.
