The problem was a malfunctioning light fixture that illuminates the house number in front of house - required to work 24/7 by HOA. Vegas Electric came as requested,(we selected them from phone book) however we neglected to ask for any pricing information as we assumed the price would be competitive to other electricians. No estimate for the work was offered. The technician said the fixture was such that it had to be rebuilt which he did fairly easily. The total time for repair including going to local supply center for parts was about two hours+. The cost for parts was $65 (t I thoought high for the plastic parts that i saw) but the labor was $343 for about two hours work, half of which was spent getting parts. I believe this should not have cost much more than $200. They do offer a lifetime guarantee at no extra cost, however that is awfully expensive insurance against a future claim.
