Kitchen Connection is by far cheaper than Home Depot and Lowe's. They have Merillat cabinets that are made in Kentucky and NOT IN CHINA. Travis Forrest is absolutely THE nicest and most knowledgeable cabinet maker you will ever meet. One thing I didn't like was that he did not fully inform me of maple versus cherry wood. I ended up buying maple cabinets, but was not happy with the way this wood took the dark stain. Luckily I ordered most of my cabinets in a color called "toffee", which was absorbed just fine. Unfortunately, I ordered two large pantry cabinets and a vanity in the very dark "kona" color. Now I have to force myself to get used to the strange way these cabinets took the stain along the routered edges of the doors. It's going to be tough for me to handle. In hindsight, I should have purchased cherry wood for the dark cabinets because supposedly this wood has no problem with dark stains. Also, dear potential buyers be aware ... maple wood has something called "birdseyes." That is, you will occasionally see some dark markings/lines in the wood that I am not particular fond of. Luckily, there were just a few in my toffee-colored cabinets and I can live with them.

Provide and install Merillat kitchen and bath cabinets. This is not your average size pass-through kitchen! It encompasses a 12X14 space with island.

Description of Work
Built cabinets and counters for office restroom, kitchen and 2 radio studios. We started with one room to see what the quality of the product would be and to see how the company was to work with. All of that was so positive that we went for 3 more counter/cabinets. Some of it was slightly complicated due to our custom needs, but Jamie (the boss) listened and measured and understood what we were looking for. The finished product is really great (except for a seam that turned out to be right in the very center of the writing/working area...)and makes each room look terrific. They helped us with some design suggestion here and there to make the most of what they thought we were indicating so far as our technical needs and the aesthetic vibe we were going for. It looks beautiful, has our custom features and it's strong. These counters hold quite a bit of weight. We're really satisfied with the outcome. The kitchen and restroom turned out to be wonderful and all of the work in the technical areas, designed to serve unusual needs, are beautiful. Kitchen Connection is a great company to work with. Very committed to the product and the work being what you want. And we feel that the price was good on each step of the work. They make laminate counters that look really good. We'll certainly call them again.
