Daystar Movers

When we searched for a company to move us from Utah to California, Daystar movers appeared to be a good choice.  They had four out of five star ranking on their site.  Big mistake!  The move was scheduled for noon on Wednesday (we expressly requested an early start so as not to disturb our neighbors), but after several phone calls during which the the "owner" of the company offered a different excuse each time ("delay at their pervious job",  "a break-down", "a flat tire" and "traffic"), they appeared at 6 pm the following day (Thursday).  The owner of the company apologized and said that they would expedite the loading job using two crews (by this time there were 2 trucks and two crews at our house) to load our belongings.  When it came to signing the contract and arranging payment, the owner suggested we walk through the house with him.  We agreed, and during this tour he mumbled various numbers as we walked through each room. He said he had to leave immediately for personal reasons. Therefore, he would offer us a "special deal".  We could pay him prior to loading based on his visual "estimate" of the volume of our belongings, or we could pay his assistant after loading based on their actual volume.  Obviously, we opted for the latter.  He then had an animated discussion with his Latino assistant (who spoke perfect English) in his broken Spanish ("Do you comprende").  He showed us an empty truck to assure us that there was nothing in the truck to begin with, and we signed the contract.  He then switched trucks for the actual load and left with 2 of his crew.  It took these 2 remaining crew members 6 hours to load the truck, and we were able to begin our 600 mile trek to California at 1:30 am on Friday morning.  We arrived at noon. We'd give this company a single star, but we increase the number of stars because the actual moving team was courteous, professional and we'd hire them again sans the boss.
