C & F Automotive

We were not very happy with this service. Our car had quit running while driving it and would not restart. We had it towed to this shop, and they ran a series of diagnostics and told us that we would need a new engine. They saidt the previous owner had and quot;burned up the engineand quot; and assured us there was no way to repair it and we would need to purchase a new one. When we asked for the diagnostics they had run, it showed that it there low power in the engine, however some cylinders were still good. When we told them that we were not in a position to have our engine replaced, especially based on one opinion and that we were going to have another mechanic take a look, their attitude became very negative.
Upon having it towed home and having a mechanic we knew personally come and look at it, it was discovered that the in the engine, the rotor on the distributor cap had been glued instead of being replaced (prior to our owning it) and that had come apart. Once that was replaced, it fired right up and has been fine since. The cost was $25 plus labor. Our disappointment was that it seems that Cand F did not actually look at the engine itself to see what the issue might be - all they did was run a diagnostic and jump to the conclusion that we needed to purchase a new engine. We did not feel they were very thorough. We will not return again.

They do a great job. They are very professional and helpful. It is a small shop with great employees who care about the customer and their work. We will continue to use them.

In choosing an auto mechanic, my attitude is illustrated by one of the maxims of the and quot;X-Filesand quot;. TRUST NO ONE!
I have lived far too long to see and quot;mechanicsand quot; who will suggest enhancements that are not necessary; but, do enlarge the profits for the business. As well as and quot;mechanicsand quot; who, when they can find nothing wrong, and quot;inventand quot; or as they say and quot;discoverand quot; expensive problems that need to be repaired. I won't even talk about their rude and unprofessional behavior. My Advice: tread carefully, do your research, and ask around (Angie's List).

With Cand F Automotive, I have found what is needed in professional auto care.
Their Front Desk demeanor is pleasant.
The quality of the workmanship performed by the mechanic(s) is excellent. And they do their best to repair your vehicle in a timely manner.
Most importantly, no cheap, low-grade parts are used..
In my specific case, the best brake pads you can obtain for your car are made of ceramic.
So, when I asked about the quality of the pads, their response was, of course, and quot;We used Ceramic brake pads.and quot;

Finally, I know individuals here in the Las Vegas area who have used Cand F Automotive for years (decades, really), going all the way back to Frank (the business is now run by his extremely professional son, Curt; hence the and quot;Cand Fand quot;) This is a and quot;Father and Sonand quot; business that is really a benchmark for how auto mechanics should operate.
Frank should be very, very proud of his son, Curt.

If your check engine light comes on do yourself a favor and take your car to Autozone for a free code check. Of course Autozone will try to sell you parts but that just gives any idea of how much should be charged for the part. The auto shops will of course will want to run their own diagnostics and charge anywhere from 80 to 100 dollars for the privilege. Cand F was the only shop I talked to that offered to absolve the charges if they found the same problem Autozone did. Even if I didn't get such a deal it was nice to be armed with information before I approached auto repairs shops.

They are in the northwest section of town. They are reasonable and honest, and they do great quality work. They are honest mechanics which you can’t beat in this town.
