To begin with, I did not order this service through Angie's List, but feel that members have the right to know about this vendor. My Homeowners Association brought this vendor in to do work on one side of our back patio cover that was damaged by a tree on the HOA side of the property. The following is my experience with them.

I was given a date for the job to be completed. They were a no show with no call that they weren't coming. Then I was given another date that was changed again, then once again, no call for the no show on that date. The owner told me he would call me right back,
which he did not do. He would only text me from that point forward, after admitting that what was going on was ridiculous. After the 3rd no show, I was given another date and then informed that the materials weren't ordered, and then informed that the materials that were delivered were the wrong color and would have to be painted. I received a text saying "I'm going to paint your entire cover for free to make it all look perfectly new." When I went over to look at the finished job, I noticed that the middle section of the cover didn't look like it had been painted so I emailed asking about it and received a text saying "that's the best we are going to do for you."  When I spoke with the owner, I informed him that the only reason I asked about the middle section was based on his text, and once again he informed me that this is all that was going to be done and that he gave me a discount.  
If you are looking for a company that has integrity and stands behind their work, this is not the one.

7-7-2015 **UPDATE** - I received another text from the owner late this morning, stating that there would be no charge for the work done. I had every intention of paying for the work, and appreciated the discount for the inconvenience, I just wanted to know if the work he promised to do ("painting the entire patio cover to make it look like new") was going to be done.

I called American Builders to get an estimate and was able to get an appointment the next day.  My appointment was for 2pm.  At around 1:00pm, Adam Kuchuris called me to say that he was running about 15 minutes behind schedule and would be at our house by 2:15pm.  I appreciated his phone call and he arrived on time (2:15pm).  My wife and I explained that we wanted the Venetian Side Louvers (that we had seen in their advertisement) at the end of our patio to block the afternoon sun and to minimize the some of the wind that occasionally blows across the patio.  Adam showed us pictures of the Venetian Side Louvers that his company had installed on other patios and explained the advantages of the Venetian Side Louvers.  He measured the area where we wanted the louvers installed, explained how they would be attached to our existing patio cover, and quickly produced a written estimate and a diagram of how the louvers would look when installed.  We were very satisfied with his bid and signed the contract.  Adam said that it would take 7 ? 10 days to construct the louvers. 

I called Adam a week later to follow-up on our order and he said that his crew had just finished constructing our louvers and said he was just getting ready to call me.  He said he could have the louvers installed tomorrow.  His two-person crew was on time, clean-cut, and very professional.  Although they had to return to their shop for a different type of bracket (due to the way our original patio cover was installed), they completed the installation within two and a half hours.  They were very careful of not stepping on the plants we have around our patio, and left our patio area as clean as it was when they arrived. 

We are very pleased with the quality and workmanship of our Venetian Side Louvers and would recommend American Builders to others.

On time, difficulty due to improper roofing @ home & existing cover. We're able to replace cover and properly flash cover @ roof.

He was polite, prompt and informative.  All in all, I'd say it went well.

Came, adjusted, did complete job in a touch paint & seal removal clean.

The workers called to let us know that they were on their way but might be a little late. In the end they arrived on time. They installed over 100 feet of gutter on one side of the house and 80 feet on the other side. They were finished within two hours. The gutters matched the color of the house perfectly. We were very pleased. However, during the last storm the water coming out of the downspout dug a hole in the rock on both sides of the house. 
I called and American Builders came out today, took one look at the situation and corrected it within 20 minutes at no additional cost. 
Everyone we met from American Builders was extremely cordial and helpful. We feel we have received excellent value and a superior product.

The service was excellent. They were friendly, professional, and prompt.

After signing the contract on December 29, 2008, I had an install date for work to be done on January 07, 2009 at 7:00am. I called the representative (Tom Christensen) mid afternoon on January 6, 2009 to ask if the scheduled work was going to be done on January 07, 2009. He told me no, i.e., that the material he had ordered was not the correct color. I understood why and we set another install date and time for Friday 09, 2009 at 10:00am. The thing is, I had to call American Builders to find out if they were going to come to install on January 07, 2009. I felt that if I would have not called, I would have been waiting for the gutter install person to be coming and I would have been waiting for nothing on January 07, 2009. At 10:20 am on January 09, 2009, I called and spoke with Tom Christensen and asked if the work was going to be done today. He did not call and let me know the gutter install person was not coming at 10:00am. His excuse was that the gutter install person was running late but failed to call me and let me know that. The gutter install person arrive at approximately 11:15am on January 09, 2009. He began to install and finished the job at about 1:15pm. While installing one of the gutters he knocked off some of the stucco. I admit that it was loose and needed repair. He was not careful enough and when installing the gutter, he must have brushed up against the stucco when raising the new gutter into place. A good portion the size of 8" in diameter of the top finish coat was removed by him. Tom Christensen showed up at my place and began to help the install person. When Tom was installing a drain spout down from one of the new gutters, he damaged a plastic vent cover attached to the existing stucco. When I showed him the damage, he denied that he had done the damage. I know it was not damaged before he began to install the rain gutter spout. The broken pieces were on the ground below the damaged plastic vent cover and you could see that they were fresh broken pieces. The fact that he lied about it made me write this above review. I spent about $10.00, travel time, and half hour of my time to repair Tom's damage. If he would of not lied about his, probably, inadvertently damaging the plastic vent cover, I would have understood much better. Unhappy customer.

It was an aluminum lattice. They did everything on time, very responsive and professional.

The gutters look real good. I have no problems with the way the gutters turned out or the way the workers handled everything. I have yet to have any complaints. I feel the pricing could have been a little more inexpensive. I do not think it was too bad, I just think it was a tad bit high.

American Builders did a very good job on my gutters. The crew that came out was very friendly and polite. Whenever they spoke to me they always said yes ma'am or no ma'am. I do feel that their price was very cheap for the amount of work they did. Before they left, they did a nice job of cleaning up after themselves.
