IF YOU ARE GOING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE PROCESS FOR HAVING REPAIRS DONE THROUGH YOUR HOME WARRANTY COMPANY, WRITE A BAD REVIEW FOR THE WARRANTY COMPANY AND NOT THE SERVICE PROVIDER WHO IS DOING WHAT THEY ARE CONTRACTED TO DO AND ASSUMES THAT YOU HAVE READ THE FINE PRINT AND YOUR EXPECTATIONS ARE PROPERLY SET!!!
Finally, I also read a review that some folks were upset about charges for disposal, etc. Most of these guys are paid on a commission so of course they will look for ways to make more money. This is a fine line between honesty on the part of the technician and diligence on the part of the customer.
When I called A & R Complete Service to complain about how lazy and unprofessional he was, the rep that I spoke with could care
less. Her attitude was just as bad. The only reason A &R Complete Service has any business at all is because they are a supplier with home warranty companies. Because of the poor service I received from A & R Complete Service, I cancelled my home warranty with HSA. They offered no help at all with this situation. I contacted a plumbing company on my own and they took care of the problem. PLEASE -- DO NOT USE A & R COMPLETE SERVICE or HSA HOME WARRANTY. There are so many other reliable plumbing companies out there. Always read reviews first. A & R Complete also has horrendous reviews on Yelp as well.
A&R was referred to me by HSA Home Warranty for 2 separate toilet leaks. The technician showed up as scheduled. After a brief inspection, the guy says that there's no toilet leaks despite there being stains originating from the base of the toilet. He didn't know what the problem was and said he suspected a slab leak problem or that my dog urinated in that area (WHAT?!?). He left without doing anything.
I ended up getting a second opinion and paid an additional $75 deductible. The Union Plumbing tech walked in took one look at it and said there was a backup somewhere and diagnosed a septic backup because the two affected toilets were on the same side of the house and probably share the same line. He recommended I find a septic company to root out the lines. Before the septic company could show up because they had a backlog, the backup got so bad that the septic vents in the backyard exploded spewing sewage all over.
It turns out A&R took down my credit card number for the deductible incorrectly and this week I receive a notice that unless I pay the $75, they would send me to collections. Even after I explain to them the situation and the fact that they horribly misdiagnosed the problem, they said, "Well you still owe us the $75." Not even a "sorry" or "we'll make it right". Needless to say, I don't want to pay these guys a single dime for such incompetence. All in all, it took me 5 weeks to get the right diagnosis, root out the septic lines and get the toilets working.
If you're thinking about using these guys, don't. Avoid them like the plague. There are plenty of better service companies out here.
Because we had no control over who did the work under our home warranty, and because the temperature was 113, we agreed to the charges in hopes the work would be completed quickly. We later learned that modification to Freon lines was not required or performed, and we could have recycled the compressor locally ourselves for no charge.
We also learned that the replacement compressor is a standard item and readily available in the area from multiple suppliers. Replacement was delayed 1 day by July 4th holiday, but eventually took 11 calendar days from date of the service request. The repair appears to have been completed correctly on July 11, 2013, but we were overcharged at least $200 dollars with the full knowledge and concurrence of American Home Shield.
