From making an appointment to completion, this company is not only courteous and professional but thorough. Special shout out to Jason P who did not only a thorough job, but was thoughtful and knowledgeable. We have passed this information to a friend who is in need of a garage door repair as well. Thank you very much! He is a great reflection of the company and who takes his job with pride!

The springs broke on my garage door and I called on them to replace. Came to my house at the appointed time. The technician saw the broken spring and told me what it would cost to replace. He gave me options, for the replacement, but didn't pressure me, just told me what my options were. He replaced the springs in a timely manner.

Very poorly. The Tech replaced 2 remotes @ $50 each plus $135 labor, said I was good and I paid the bill. Tried to use them that night, they didn't work, called tech, and he said the wireless sensor must be too weak to work outside garage, and he had tested them only in the garage. He then said the only thing that could be done was replace the entire garage unit. So I paid for remotes I didn't need since it wasn't a remote problem, and my "non-working" ones were fine, and I paid for remote programming/labor charge I didn't need, and $235 later I still can't open my garage door with a remote. I rely on "professionals" to know what to check for when a customer tells them the remote doesn't work - why wouldn't he test the wireless signal from the driveway instead of just selling me new remotes and an hour of labor for a 5 minute job? Especially because I had 2 remotes not working - if he was a knowledgeable professional, why wouldn't he suggest it was the signal, not the unlikely chance that 2 different remotes were broken at the same time? I was taken advantage of here. And if it truly was a mistake, why wouldn't he try to make good on it when he discovered he didn't test properly and my issue wasn't fixed? He could have refunded the new remotes since they weren't even used once, and given me the $135 worth of labor charge as future labor credit for the garage door opener unit replacement since that's the only way, apparently, to fix the issue. But instead, offered nothing.

BEWARE. My mom's two car garage door torsion spring broke on a Sunday, night leaving her door stuck in the open position. She contacted this company as they offered a 24/7 response, and to their credit, they responded within an hour on a Sunday night. Once the tech arrived, he said he wasn't quite sure what was wrong, as he'd never seen a broken torsion spring cause the door to get stuck in the up position. (I diagnosed this over the phone for her-I'm not a garage door tech) She also had the Wayne Dalton style torsion spring, so it was enclosed in a metal tube out of view. Once the tech figured out it was the torsion spring, he correctly told her she needed a conversion kit, and it would be $1,000. Feeling uneasy about the price, she asked the tech if he could simply get the garage door down until she could get more estimates. At first the tech said he couldn't get the door down, but then had a change of heart and said he could cut the cables and lower the door for $250. As she didn't know any better, she gave the go-ahead to cut the cables. Not even five minutes later, the cables were cut and the door was down. Now the bill came, and as the tech stated, it was $250, but if she didn't pay with a credit card, he would lower it to $240. She paid the $240 and the tech left. The next day, my mom started calling around for estimates and every one of her estimates ranged from $275-$350. It's obvious that the tech/company was taking advantage of my mom's situation by trying to charge $1,000 for a $275-$350 job. It was also ridiculous that the tech charged $250 to cut two cables. She understands there was an after-hours response fee for the service call, but that was $99, which is fair. What is mind-boggling is the fact the tech charged her an extra $140 to cut two small cables to allow the door to go down. Do yourself a favor and shop around, as you will clearly pay MUCH, MUCH more for this company to service your garage door. She had Damian Douglas Garage Door fix the spring. He completed the job for $275 (only $25 more than the A1 tech charged to cut two cables!) and was in shock that any company would try to charge $1,000 for the job. Also, four other companies told her, after the fact, they would have only charged the service fee of $99 total to cut the cables to lower the door. Shame on you, A1 Garage Door, Tech Ryan B, and Office Manager Bruce, who wouldn't budge on the price when she called the next day, only saying "you pay for quality work." The cutting of the cables was quality work, but $140 to grab a pair of wire cutters and squeeze, twice? Lesson learned, oh well.

They were originally called out for a broken spring. They were very punctual and professional. They were very quick and not pushy at all by selling us products I didn't need. We ended up purchasing a new door and opener. They schedule on a installation tech to come on Saturday to install. The tech was on time and was quick. Really excellent experience.

Ryan was the service tech who came to my house. He called to let me know he was on his way, and came within the time window of the appointment as promised and was very pleasant, polite, and knowledgeable. Ryan inspected the garage door opener and parts, and showed me the various areas that needed repair, and explained why ... more than a decade old spring, cables and rollers that are worn out and might damage a new garage door opener if not replaced soon ... At first I was reluctant to do all the repairs Ryan has suggested since I was only thinking about the immediate need of the garage door opener and the budget; but when he (and even had Rob, his boss on the phone) explained the safety reason, and the fact that the new door opener, the new parts, and the work done would last for the next 10 years, I decided to follow the advice and have the work done. Ryan was able to do the whole thing the same day. Thank you Ryan and Rob!

Ryan Black was the tech that came to my house. He was very polite. He arrived at the time scheduled. He recognized the problem right way and explained everything to me. I was very impressed with him. He explained to me how the springs should be cared for by spraying. Also, he sprayed them while here and told me the spray to use. He left the can of spray with me. I couldn't be more pleased with a service man.
