As are many home owners in the Las Vegas Valley, I found myself and quot;upside downand quot; on my mortgage when the financial downturn happened. I was in a quandary as to what course of action to take. How could I refinance my loan if the home was not worth what I paid for it? Fortunately, the government came to the rescue in the form of a HARP refinance program allowing loans secured by Freddie Mac to be refinanced at a lower interest rate. Great, but where to go from there? I contacted my credit union about the program and they indicated that they did do the HARP refinance program, but their software was not up to date and I might encounter some problems while trying to register for the program. Well, they were right . I decided then and there to move on to something less frustrating. Next, I decided to go online and get help. I went to a site that indicated that it would direct me to the company that would offer the best rates. OK. Sounded good. Soon I was contacted by Quicken Loans about a possible refinance of my loan. I had heard conflicting reports about this company, so I went online again for customer reviews. The reviews were mixed, but there were enough negative reviews that I decided against going with them. Then I decided to go to Angie's List for recommendations. I had heard that the reviews were reliable and trustworthy. Good enough for me. Several mortgage companies and brokers were listed, Watchtower Mortgage Company among them. It had only one review and it was a very good one, so I took a chance. I called and had the pleasure of dealing with Kris Martino, the broker-owner of the company. I outlined my situation and Kris took it from there. Immediately, he went into action outlining the process and indicating what paperwork and verifications would be required of me. He made the entire process smooth and relatively painless. The entire endeavor took about four to six weeks of required work, but Kris did all of it. That was a relief for me. I must say that you certainly have to have your ducks in a row, so to speak, in order to facilitate the process. If you do, with tax records, employment records, phone contacts,etc., then the process goes smoothly. In other words, you must do your part. I can and will highly recommend Kris Martino to help with the Harp refinance program. I found no downside, and the best part was that there was no out of pocket expenses for me. My wife and I needed to have our mortgage refinanced and began the process by contacting our bank who held our mortgage. Despite my repeated attempts, my bank never responded to my requests. After doing a little research we decided to use a mortgage broker to assist us with the refinance process. We initially contacted Kris Martino at Watchtower Mortgage via email at the beginning of February. Kris responded almost immediately and began answering my questions. Kris was very helpful, professional, and never pressured us into anything, so my wife and I decided to use his services. We had our first meeting with Kris on February 11th. At that meeting Kris reviewed our financial situation. He also explained the different refinance loan options available to us, and which options would benefit us the most. We met with Kris a 2nd time on February 13th to sign initial documents to get the process moving. Kris handled everything else from there, including contacting an appraisal company, which appraised our home a couple weeks later. Kris communicated with us frequently via email, occasionally needing additional information, and keeping us informed during the entire process. Kris setup an appointment with a title company, and we signed our final documents on March 6. The entire process only took about a month. Finally, we did not have to pay Kris anything directly. His payment came from the lender as a percentage of the loan amount which is factored into the intial loan rate. We locked in a rate of 3.25% for 15 years. We are very happy with the speed and efficiency of Watchtower Mortgage, and the low loan rate he got for us. If we ever need to refinance again, we will definitely call Kris.
