Scott Residential Design

Overall he did a good job and we are pleased with the final result. But, he tended to want to follow his own vision, and we had to be assertive on what we wanted to do on some aspects of the design. Two issues that arose during construictuon that should have been caught during the design phase and corrected: First, the roof truss/framing design was not coordinated with the mechanical/HAVAC design, so that there was no place provided in the roof trusses for the forced air equipement. Consequently, we were forced to design a drop ceiling into one of the rooms to provide a space for the forced air unit. Second, his mechanical engineer sub-consultant specified an electrical forced air unit rather than gas. No one caught this until we were ready to install the forced air unit. This cost us a lot of money to change and put us behind schedule 3 to 4 weeks because we had to redesign the system and re-submit it to the building dept. for approval before the construction could proceed.

We interviewed Scott the middle of January and hired him shortly after. The plans were poduced and approved within four weeks, and a contractor was hired.
