This company was so professional from the first call to the final work and payment. I was under a tight time constraint to have work done before departing Las Vegas and they did everything they would to have the arborist, Mike Cooper, evaluate my needs before I left. He worked me into his already tight schedule and was so pleasant on the phone and in person. We agreed on the work that needed to be done and the time to do it. On that day, they were on time and the work was done to my exact expectations. Thanks, Mike, I appreciate you going the and quot;extra mileand quot; to work with me personally on such short notice. There is no doubt I will use this company again, and will continue to use them for annual upkeep on these trees.

Last March we contacted Metropolis on the referral of a friend and after reviewing their ratings on Angie's List. We met with Gary Brock who was very helpful in designing a landscape to essentially gut and start over in our yard. The quote was reasonable and comparable to a few others that we had out, if not a little higher, but given their recommendation and first hand experience with people we trust, we opted for their services. The approval through our HOA was a hassle and moved the start date from one month to 'indeterminant', which was a minor frustration. After we got the plans approved, we were told 4 weeks to start, which kept getting pushed back. I understood that other projects had been approved in the meantime, and things come up with every job that can't be anticipated, but it went from quoting us a specific timetable to being unable to give us any idea over the next 6-8 weeks.
Finally in early July we got the call that they would be starting in a few days, which was great. The crew and Gary showed up, and knocked out the meat of the project in just over a week. Everything looked great. One of the ground flood LED lights went out within five minutes the first night - not a big deal, as it's an easy replacement, right? Also, we discovered that when moving the patio furniture around, the patio umbrella was broken by the crew - also figured no big deal, and that i would just ask that they replace it.
Two days later I noticed the first of what quickly became three moderately sized patches of turf that had melted down to the point of being half the height of the unaffected turf. Now, to be fair, Gary had mentioned that we might consider having sun screens installed on the windows to try and prevent this from happening, but after a conversation or two about it, said we should have some time to decide if this was necessary. This was not the case. More than a week later when Gary came back to look at the light, the umbrella and the turf (which we had taken to covering the areas with towels to keep it from getting worse) the patches were set i, and about 3 to 4 feet in size (in a not very large yard to begin with). First he tried to tell me he had all but insisted that we install solar screens on the window, which was absolutely not the case. Then he went on to say that this is a very rare thing to have happen which is why they don't insist that people install solar screens prior to having turf installed. He was immune to me pointing out that 1) his two arguments were completely inconsistent with each other and 2) if this is such a rare thing to have happen, they should have no problem replacing the affected turf as a rare cost of doing business. Not to mention, I have since contacted a couple of other services who replace and install artificial grass who claim that their practice is if there is ANY concern of sunlight reflection off of windows onto the area the turf is to be placed, they do not put it down until the windows have solar screens installed, and that is actually a pretty common occurrence in Southern Nevada/Vegas. So it is either rare per Gary, or so common that other services won't put turf down without solar screens to prevent this very issue. We did have the screen installed within a week of calling the company he referred us to, but they refused to replace the affected turf. The best offer we got was to buy new turf and Metropolis would install it for free. We passed on that offer. Also, when I asked for the name of his supplier in case, in the future, I wanted to just buy the turf and replace it myself or have someone else do it, he wouldn't tell me the brand of turf or who they buy it from.
As far as the light and the umbrella (and while trying to pin him down to a final answer regarding the turf) it took calls or texts almost weekly to keep him on it. I got the distinct impression that had I not hounded them, we would have never gotten the replacement parts, one of which was something their crew broke during the job. After finishing the job in mid July, only now in the second week of October received the light and umbrella. I'm sure it was not their top priority, but I would think that a job isn't considered finished until all issues have been resolved.
Overall, the yard looks great, and we are actually pretty happy with it. The melted patches of turf are still there, and tolerable for the short term. My worst experience was just in the communication. To believe Gary, he either told that we should absolutely put solar screens up, or they never tell people to put solar screens up to protect the turf. In reality, we were told to think about it, and assured that, in their professional experience, we had time to decide. He was wrong. It shouldn't take three months, and countless reminder calls and messages, to replace a customers personal property damaged during the job. It wasn't major, but the delay and lack of punctuality on the response reflects on the professionalism of the service. Based more on the interaction than the quality of the work, they will not get our return business, nor our referral to friends and family.

The job was done expediently and professionally. The crews were prompt every day, and cleaned up before leaving every night. The job was completed well ahead of schedule. The owner showed a personal interest in the work, and did everything possible to please. He actually went above and beyond what we expected, and v we are extremely pleased with our new yard!

We couldn't be more pleased with both jobs. Gary was very pleasant, knowledgeable and easy to work with and Luis and his team worked really hard. They were on time, which is sooo unusual for any service providers. They cleaned up after themselves. We got to pick out our own plants at the nursery which we liked a lot since we're picky. They made sure all of the conversion met the SNWA requirements so that we would receive the money they offer for conversions *Note that they won the landscaper's challenge on HGTV. You can watch the episode on their website.

The crew showed up on time and performed all the work requested. During the process I requested minor changes in the layout and was accommodation without issue or cost. The supervisor/owner Todd was there each day making sure both the progress was on track and that I was satisfied with the work. I was very satisfied with the work performed.

Excellent. Gary was very responsive and easy to reach. The work was performed as agreed and very promptly. I would definitely recommend Metropolis.

LVVWD has strict guidelines for landscape conversion to participate in the rebate program. Metropolis did a good job and the LVVWD reimbursed me the full amount per square foot of grass that was converted to desert.

They are great. It's been a great experience. I keep going back to them because of their reliability. They are very honest. They have always been there when I needed them. I'm happy with the price. They always keep their word and timeline, when they say the job will be done. Their pricing is good.

The workmen arrived a little late due to a flat tire but Gary who had given me the estimate, kept me informed by phone as to their ETA.Immediately upon arrival, they went to work and very quickly, my old lawn was replaced with fescue sod. My 12 year old sprinkler system was checked and adjusted to water the new grass. They cleaned everything and even helped with needed unrelated heavy work. Unfortunately, very little of the sod survived. Gary came to see and said there was mold and that overseeding was needed after mold treated and that he would call me the next day. He didn't. A week later he left me a message saying and quot;I'm trying to get ahold of youand quot;. By that time, I was done with Metropolis

Cutting the pavers was very dusty but they came out very nice. I don't like the gold fines as it looks just like dirt, I should have gone with the red fines. The only thing I didn't like about the whole job is they didn't expose the line to the garden and now there are pavers over it and I can't dig to find it. I'll have to tear them up so I can run water to the garden.

It took a couple of months because it took a while as I had two boards that I had to get the approval from and they sort of took their time. Mr. Gary was the main person that I dealt with. He worked with the boards for me and so, I did not have to do it. He was very nice. They are going to replace a piece of my grass that has died but I don’t know as to when he is working in the area, when he is going to come over and change that. He also has to adjust my sprinkler system in my back yard and he would be doing that at the same time. They were very nice. They were always on time when they had the meetings with me. When he said that he would be there at 10:00 then he would be there at 10:00. They came out and they actually got the work done as per the schedule which was great. I decided to change something in the last minute. They worked with me and changed it without any problem.

From the moment when I scheduled the first appointment, to seeing the initial design and proposal, revisions to design for budget purposes, to signing the contract, then start and completion of the project I could not have been more impressed with the professionalism, attention to detail and accommodation for my every concern along the way. Todd and Gary are great to work with, they explained every plant, and how it would grow, the irrigation system is awesome also. I have and will in the future recommend this company to anyone who is in need of landscaping, or pavers.
